The vette lives in Michigan still & is still owned by Championship Auto Shows, the company that puts on Autorama. I heard that the van was in Virginia back in the 80's/90's in some museum but that was years ago. The SEMI also resides in Michigan & is also owned by CASI along with the original VW!!!

Hey guys! It's been a while, thanks go out to Ward for dropping me a line about this contest A lot of you probably remember me, but for those who don't I'm a long-time Deal's Wheels collector and run the "Deal's Wheels Website". I was good friends with Dave Deal for quite a while before his passing. Anyway, I'd like to sweeten the pot for the contest by offering some prizes. I'm not sure if it's allowable for CC contests, but if it is I'd offer a Baron and His Funfdecker Fokker reissue kit for first plus a 1992 Zzzzz-28 reissue kit for second, of course the Z kit in itself isn't worth much but this one is signed by Dave Deal! I'd also like to post pictures of all the entries on my web site (unless the builder objects). Tim, let me know if it's OK to offer the prizes, if so consider it done!

Stupid question - Are there any rules or build catagories ? Did I miss a memo here ? Maybe the paint fumes are getting to me ?

Looks like the ORIGINAL post read kitbash a DW or Zinger kit... It you dint want to kitbash then build it stock... It's not rocket science fellas... Build it your way and participate or sit on the sidelines if you choose... Contest end date last day of July as not to interfere with the october cobweb classic...

The thing I think is kind of amusing, and enjoyable, is that those who suggested the contest did so because people were already participating at that level, whether there was any sort of official rules or other framework to guide them ... and, whenever people have asked if there was this-or-that level of official restrictions, people were too busy building stuff, to give a reply!
So, just to increase overall awareness, I had linked to all of the original posts I had found (in this and one other, multi-page thread) ... since, as far as I could see, most questions asked were probably going to go unanswered ... with the idea being, apparently, that the Rules Makers were too busy building to restrict other's builds; or to bother repeating what they had said about it, in the past. And awareness seems to be increasing...
I'll happily leave any official rules to others, but having read everything said about this contest, it looks to me like the overall idea is "just build something" and "don't over-think the rules or other restrictions" and "post pics and words about your build; so that others will get inspired to jump in, and build something too".
The two big rules seem to me to be: "amaze us" and "just build"!
Just my two pennies ... and now, I gotta get back to working on the first of my own Deal's Wheels entries! :-)

Deals Wheels, gotta love em! while surfing to buy more Deals I ran across you ProBoards contest so I want to submit my Deals wheels Van. My version was to make the Van into a Short School bus that drives the special kids to and from school. It comes equipped with home made leopard print seats, and fold out stop sign to hold back traffic and it is decked out with custom special Ed plates. Hope you enjoy my twisted sense of humor. ;D I have more ideas if I can get my hands on more kits. here's to having fun! Laurie Tower Attachments:
