man that really is some killer work and exceptional detail and great paint thanks for sharing DragNut. I kept this pretty simple. Sometimes that works better. Forgot his helmet. I'll show it later. Thats a real working spanner too!

Hey thanks for the warm welcome. Im just finishing of this Deal's Wheels Van. Since this is the completed projects thread the van is pretty much finished, Im just doing the mud and grass and muck to the base and van. I also have quite a few ed roth monsters finished now just need to get some cool pics, soon. I have some original sculpts to show off too with lots of how-to progress pics I will post later. Im also pondering doing Dave Deal's glitterbug from scratch. Since I can machine and mill wheels and stuff and sculpt I really want to do a take on the exact look from the boxart. Im pretty confident in making those huge rear wheels from metal block just exactly like the boxart. Anyway I will make the wheels first and that should help inspire the rest of the sculpt/build. If anyone has any questions I'd be too happy to answer. I'll definitely be asking some myself. About 20 years ago I was doing a lot of 43rd scale replica's. These are pretty small works as can be seen by my son in the background. I love working with metal, wood, leather etc which I learnt from these 43rd's and using these raw materials and scatchbuilding It's helping me take my re-lived 60's crazy model kits to a nice place. All Metal Lotus 25 hand made. Polishing tiny metal pieces the size of a pinhead requires some strategy and patience. This is only 3 1/2 inches long. [glow=red,2,300]NICE BUILDS!!![/glow] The finish on the VW Van tires looks Great! Mind telling how it was done? Thanks, Ira

First I filled the tires with resin to give them some strength which also allowed me to screw them to the base then sprayed them with chaos black primer. I then just drybrushed them Skull White with a large No.14 filbert brush.

First off: as everyone else here seems to have already said: Major Awesomeness and Holy Bleep, dude! (Stunned wow-ness, deluxe!) Welcome aboard, big time! ;D Im also pondering doing Dave Deal's glitterbug from scratch. Since I can machine and mill wheels and stuff and sculpt I really want to do a take on the exact look from the boxart. Can't wait to see the in-progress shots for that one! (Or any other models / art you choose to show pics of, for that matter!) I love the idea of "blueprinting" cartoon models. (Matching them to the original artwork, I mean.) Heck, I love it any time I see 'toons taken seriously; and built / painted / shaded / modded / and just generally worked on, to high standards! -- Ward Shrake -- P.S. to the other Coffin Corner Klowns: for those of us here who didn't already know about it, Scott has a web site, too. (I just now parsed the HTML code of Scott's posts, here, to see where he's posting his pics from; since I didn't see a site name listed in his bio section) ... so, anyway: his picture-hosting place turned out to be from Scott's own web site, which is located here: www.feel-rock.com/I haven't checked it all out, yet ... but I bookmarked it; and I plan to really check it out. (Major introduction mode ON, indeed!?!)

Thanks, you guy's are really very kind. Here is a very rough photoshop mockup of where im heading for the Lucky Pierre. Like I said earlier, although I just have fun with this stuff I do take the design and art direction pretty seriously. Once that's sorted then its all fun in the doing. So here's the art direction for Lucky Pierre. This image is just a copy and paste mess from images found on google images, but its an easy and cheap way to get a look ahead to see if it will work. Im now starting to think that this fuselage will look really good rebuilt in wood frame with painted cloth over it. Also the cloth covered wheels with a bit of cloth creasing. So while I clear the bench of some near finished stuff Im pondering this already. So just an idea at this stage but looking likely.

While doing this I saw some great pics of the Albatross plane and couldn't help wanting to see what it would look like Dave Deal style. Photoshop is a great starting tool for sure. Not looking to build this but food for thought.
