Yeah... I like the new top configuration. It looked too bulky around the sides... this fixes it.

I've really been concentrating on my Kobweb Klassic entry, so there hasn't been anything to update on my current builds until tonight. I needed a break from that project, so I thought I would concentrate on the suspension of Ala Mode. I decided to put a Vette rear under it, out came the Razor Saw and Evergreen. To get it "In the Weeds" I needed to Z the frame. With the rear in place. The frame and rear sitting in the fenders. I still have no idea how I'm going to fit a front suspension under it, but that will be a project for another day.

First round of body filler is done. After weeks of sanding on my Kobweb Klassic entry, I'm surprised I had it in me to sand anything else. Other than where the running boards meet the rear fenders, this one is pretty easy so far.

After looking at it for a while one day, I didn't like how high the grille sat. I decided to rework the shape of it. I extended the grille downward and kicked it out on the bottom. The side profile of the grille shell matches the window shape of the roof. Getting the shape, Skinning it, I'm not sure if these extensions on the headlight buckets will fit, they might be in the way of the front axle and have to go.

It kinda sucks when you set a project aside, then come back to it, only to find you don't remember what the heck you were doing when you set it aside. I stole the front axle and some parts from an Outlaw kit to fit on the Kart. I had the axle narrowed along with the frame piece that has the spring cups. I'll be damned if I can remember how it went together, I finally gave up and decided to try to make the stock AK suspension work. Rather than narrow the axle, I modified the front wheels and I've got it close, if not narrow enough already. I did have to lose the headlight extension pieces, they would not clear the suspension. A shot from the back, just for the heck of it.

It's good to see this one back. The grill updates are great and flow well with the excellent redesign of this classic.
I know what you mean about forgetting where you were. I also forget the assembly sequence too.
Keep it up. This is a great model.
