So what was your first car? Was it a seventies street bruiser or an old junker, was it mom's minivan, or an affordable muscle car

My first car was a 1967 Falcon Futura 4 door ,white with a light blue gut, 6 cyl. I got it for free for helping a neighbor put his stuff in a moving van . He couldn't take the two cars he had so he told me to pick one. , a 65 Belvedere sedan or the Ford. Since these were both New England cars they were pretty rusty ;the Falcon was only ten years old and it was full of holes. I had it for a year or so, and bought a 74 Gremlin which lasted 6 months when it got hit in the rear by a 69 Polara.

1957 Ford Custom 300 4dr, 3 speed overdrive, had 2 of these, first one was first car inherited from the family in 1969 or so, after rebuilding engine and trans drove for 2 years and rolled it, ruined the body. Found a duplicate for $47, 292 w/auto was shot, moved everything from 1st car including the standard trans to new body, this is the result. Reclining bucket seats from a Javelin, upholstery was two panel w/single button, 3 hole wood rimmed steering wheel and inner handles, great sound system with cassette! Chrome reverse with custom 300 caps, removed the white trim paint. Paint was a VW color lacquer done in a carport, then cleared with the then new urethane Imron which came in black , white and clear only. This photo circa 1973. Paint looked good for several years but eventually that combo frosted out. Car still sits in my garage next to the 67 Mustang f/b that I bought off a used car lot in 1978 for $450, which was my 2nd car.

!968 Ford LTD 2-door. Drove it for a couple months, and then traded it to my grandma for her 1963 Galaxie500 convertible. The 63 was our car when I was a little guy, so I kept it in the family until I went in the Air Force in 1979.

My first car was a 1973 Dodge Dart Swinger.I bought it off of my Dad. I had to get a job washing dishes and pots and pans at a local cafeteria to pay for it!It had a 318,automatic transmission, and factory A/C which was arguably the coldest A/C on ANY car that I have ever owned! Here is a picture of one similar to the one I owned: Todd ;D

my first car/truck....1984, i was 14 years old. 1955 ford panel truck, 312 thunderbird v-8, 4 barrel, 3 on the tree, and straight pipes. It was a Zenith t.v. repairmans truck. I had many, many more cars in my teen years, including a 71 chevelle with a 454 in it, a 68 nova with a 396 in it, and a 71 nova with a 454 in it....all were street/strip cars, with the quickest being the 71 nova. 11.90 @ 127 mph in the 1/4 mile. none of them were pretty, but here's me in my chevelle circa 1986 torturing a set of skinny tires just for fun. here's my 71 nova when i first got it. running 12:90's on street tires with full exhaust. Pay attention to the announcer because i had a passenger in my car on this run...I got in trouble for going too fast with a passenger. you have to run 14.0 or slower to take a passenger, and i went 12.90. watch for the track official at the end waiting for me. I re-did the engine after this with a bigger cam, different heads, intake and a bigger carb to get it down into the 11's

I believe I've mentioned on another thread that the first car I drove and had regular usage of was a 1964 Dodge Polara with the push button automatic, but the first car I owned was a 1974 Dodge Colt station wagon. What a piece, by the time my brother rolled it on a rural road and ended its career we had stuck a pair of Datsun truck shocks and springs on the rear to accommodate some much wider tires and slotted mags. We also installed a muffler and exhaust tip off a Triumph sports car for added annoying rumble. Thank goodness I have no photographic evidence... Gerry G

1953 ford mainline. i was 15 years old. this was my first car in 1963. it was stock at the time and i got it to this stage by 1970. Oh, and it only ran until 1964, then i started working on it. it eventually got a 6-71 blown 394 cube olds- mo- bubble motor and 4 speed hydro. i never finished it, sold it and went onto bigger and better things. this is what i drive now. 1953 henry j. not much has changed.
