Alright... after a lot of going back and forth, here we go. We are going to keep things as simple as possible, please don't over think anything or get too bogged down in the details... The object is to have fun and build some models. Build whatever you want, but please try and keep the focus on Show Rods, what this website is about. If you want to build a cartoony car, like a Deal's Wheels or Weirdo.. go for it. Whatever. Just build something. Two categories: 1. Box stock and modified box stock. - Build a show rod to match the box art, or build one mostly stock with paint changes, different wheels or engine, other parts, detailing, whatever... Keep it like it is or change it up. Have fun. 2. Open Kitbash. - Build your own show rod. Detail it as far as you want. Do what you want... That's it. You should know which class you are building in. Enter as many models as you'd like. Finish any stalled projects you want... If you have any questions, ask... Judging: The main judging will be done by participants. If you enter one or more models you will get to vote for your favorite in each class, and no voting for your own. One vote per person. People's choice: We will have a people's choice. Registered Coffin Corner members can vote for their favorite in each category. Guest Judging: We are excited to have several Special Guest Judges who will make their picks. Guest Judges: Ira Dahm: Dave Shuten: Aaron Grote (Plowboy): Fritz: Prizes: To be determined. This is an evolving contest.. Dates: December 1st to April 1st. Let's keep the enthusiasm going. We all know work gets done the first and last two weeks of the deadlines. Entries: Entries will be posted in two threads as we've always done. One for pictures, a second for comments. Refer to the old contest threads for an idea. We will create the threads for the completed models April 1st. Refer to contests like the Cobweb Classic in the Contest Central area on the main page for an idea on the format. Works in Progress, sneak peeks, comments, and suggestions can be added to this thread. This thread will be stickied to the top. We encourage progress shots, questions, thoughtful and helpful advice, and will not tolerate any drama. Please be kind when commenting on other's builds. It's a positive thing... Any questions, thoughts, or additions? Also.... I want to publicly thank Bruce, (old school modeler) for his enthusiasm and input. Honestly this probably wouldn't really be happening if it wasn't for him... Thank you, Bruce.

DO you have to have build it with in that time frame?

The point of the contest is to promote building. If you have a build you started and wanted to finish it, then that would be cool, but if you wanted to grab something off the shelf, then no. If you own a time machine and want to build something next year and bring it back, I'd like some winning lottery numbers, please. Hope that helps.

This is gonna be fun ! I've got at least two builds in mind that I should be able to finish in time . One question : It sounds like a build that I have in progress now but not finished is eligible , correct ? Not a big deal , just wondering .

Good news this morning, I heard back from Fritz, and he's on board to be a Guest Judge. He's been working hard on his new car, but is happy to participate. That's cool...

Alright guys, Ira is on board! Very happy to have him as a guest judge. He offered to build an "exhibition" model, but I told him as long as he didn't choose his own, (which I know he would never do, lol), I welcomed his participation...

Well I got inspired by Hobby Bobby's highlight on the not-produced Voting Booth from MPC so I will be building one based on the catalog illustration. Have the Phone Booth kit and 1/25 Wankel engine in hand, will post updates on this one in progress and likely will be doing some part making and a few other surprises.

Since I'm still building kit pieces, This would be another good excuse to put the hammer down on the Boot Hill Express. I also have another 1/8 scale Show Rod in mind, We'll see how the time goes.

I'm looking to get these in for the contest. Lil Coffin Pickup that I had started a couple months ago. I have it in black primer to start with. I designed a dashboard. I don't like the original one. And I was messing with this idea.....different take on Rommels Rod I'm debating this look: Or this look:

Great ideas Dave ! The Li'l Coffin pickup looks like a winner and the Rommel's Rod should be pretty cool too ! I've got two stalled projects and one currently in progress to choose from . I also have all of the goodies to build two more ideas I've had for a while . I'm gonna have to decide pretty soon , I'd like to finish two by April 1st . . . it's a really tough decision !
