Hello everybody!
I originally emailed my request directly to the Big Cheese himself (Poul Dave Rasmussen) but he no longer owns this kit. He told me that I'll probably find someone to help me by posting my request in the Coffin Corner.
I thought of posting this in the "Wanted Kits/Parts" section but it seems that there is more traffic here.
As you all already know, MPC One-arm Bandit is a scarce kit. I built one as a kid (it is long gone now). So, I've been looking for an affordable "builders kit" on eBay for the past few years. I finally found one! For under $100 I got myself a kit with all of its parts. But with crappy box, no readable instructions or usable decals. I can live without a good box as I'll be building the kit anyway. But I need the decal and instructions.
So, I'm looking for a One-Arm Bandit kit owner who would let me borrow the instruction sheet and the decal so that I can scan and duplicate them.
The instruction sheet is not critical to me - I would be quite happy with a scan or a photocopy. But the decal is another matter.
I have an Alps printer and I print my own decals. I have my own methods of scanning the artwork to get best results. So I would really need to borrow the decal sheet so that I can do my "magic" with the scan.
I'm also thinking of adding few extra decals to my sheet. Like for example the roulette wheel's numbers and white background with a silver edge for the cherries in the slot machine windows.
I was even thinking that once I trace the decal and make it into a Corel Draw vector file, I could share my work with Decal Dan from Slippery Arts.
So, if someone here has a complete One-arm Bandit kit (or know someone who has one) and is willing to work with me - contact me at peteski7@yahoo.com. I'll provide you with my "modeling references" to show you that I'm a reliable person. If I were in your shoes I wouldn't want to send a decal sheet from a precious model kit to some stranger either.
Of course I would be more than happy to cover any costs involved in copying or shipping the instructions and decal sheet. I would even be willing to provide a monetary deposit to assure that I return the borrowed items in the same condition as when they were shipped to me.
Thanks!
Peteski
