Newbie question, so don't hit me too hard. Who built the store displays ? (Picture took from web, not mine)

So they actually came from Monogram prebuilt ? Now that would have been a cool job to have !

I guess it could have been , but it depended on how many you had to build - you may have got really tired of building 50 Dragon Wagons !

The store dispalys that were factory done were assembled by a group of ladies at Monogram. In someones book they tell about a visit to Monogram in early 1960's and being surprised that all the displays were built by these women!

That's interesting. I guess it would be just like any other monotonous job after a while. Like Roseanne pulling parts off plastic tree's all day.

According to Grahams history of Monogram book these store display models were built by separate department called the display studio. Builders were 30 women who worked in an assembly-line fashion to assemble and paint from 50 to 60 thousand display pieces a year.
I can't see it being a really a fun job considering the numbers you had to produce but it's interesting that women were doing the work, even then the majority of modellers were male. The book doesn't give any insight as to why women were exclusively hired for this work.
