Thank you very much! So many great models - And interesting dealers, too. Must have been a fund show. Two more things to add: 1) Your photography skillz are plain awesome 2) I wouldn't have wanted to be judge in that contest

Not a contest? By title of the event ("National this" and "National that" always sound like a race or competition to me), the quality of the displayed models and the cards going with them I was convinced there was a competition going on. And then there were the guys obviously taking notes. All that got me totally fooled. Thinking about it, the fact that it's "just" a modelers' con makes it even better. I never got into the "competition spirit".

Thanks for posting the pictures Howard. It's been a few years since I made the pilgrimage (5 hour drive? Try an international 7 hour flight with a load of built kits as hand luggage!) but it looks like the quality hasn't dropped one bit. My choice? The Model T packing cases - now there's someone who really does think outside the box!

I've been to Toledo two times, 2000 and 2008. I took about 9 hours by plane from Stockholm, Sweden to Chicago. I first had to drive about 3 hours to the airport and then a couple of hours from Chicago to Toledo. Hope to make that trip again in the future. Right now I'm actually in the us, but couldn't fit the Toledo show into my scheduale.

I remember when that guy built the model in his hotel room, that was cool. The NNL-style shows are the best to promote goodwill and fellowship... the lack of a competitive atmosphere allows everyone to enjoy themselves and just be normal people. I've been to several over the years, mainly in California and Atlanta, and they are a fun time. Highly recommended. I'd drive five hours to attend one.
