Cheers Bert! Well I think so, I've ticked off all of the moves so far in the instructions, my inspirations are these two kits, I'd love to get hold of..........  And..........................  So I may change my upper body in light of these designs! |

NICE Work Pat!!!!! The frame looks GREAT! Question, the headers, those kit-parts, or did you make those? They look GREAT as they sit on the engine!

Yes Hemi they are four sets of headers, one tucks inside the other so two on each side. I put them on with the rear header onto the block then the front one. They fir vey well, I shall finish them off with some alloy tube on the ends. |

I've built it; it's a simple kit, curbside, but it certainly has its own weird charm.   It had no chrome, so I used BMF on the air cleaners and added some old Plymouth hubcaps I had lying around. It did have poseable steering and separate whitewall inserts. You can see that the tilt of the upper body sides is pretty extreme! That black peg sticking up just inboard of each front wheel is where the surfboard-shaped front fenders are supposed to attach; I thought they looked fragile and silly so I left them off. |

WOWIE! rocketeer, thanks for this! I have already found a wood drills of the correct diameter to cut the portholes.......  These are just to test sizes on waste blanks, I think I will use the larger one. Now you mention the tilt, that brings another dimension into trimming the kit side panels! I shall also use the kit windscreen without the chrome frame. |

Re-shaped side panels, with woodgrain decals and port-holes...............  Also re-shaped coffin surfboard with woodgrain decal. All here need a little paint round the edges to finish.  |

Today's work, I left the cross bars on the roof rack..............  Put a couple of clear gloss coats on the Tamiya Candy Apple Green...............  In test fitting both the hatch and front nose/headlight I've scratched/chipped the yellow paint so have had to repaint both. I keep shaving down the items but they are still a very tight fit, so may stick them in place..................  And fiited the tail lights................  |

Man, I learn something new all the time.. I have (and built) the Sand Piper, but didn't know there was an earlier version... awesome. The Sand Piper was one of the only show rods I've built box stock... That's funny , I have the Wild Woody and never knew about the Sand Piper !  Great work so far Pat , the new sides with the portholes look awesome . So do your wood decals .  |

Hi Bob, nice hearing from you again! Yes those two kits so similar and nobody knew! The wood decals are purely a picture copied from the web and and printed up. I've also decalled the inside of the side panels as the rear of the car will be open.
Yes I'm trying to get hold of one or the other, but that's pretty impossible. When were they made Bob?

I do the same thing for my wood decals , anything that works ! My Wild Woody is dated 1965 . I see them occasionally at reasonable prices but shipping to the UK probably kills that . Hope you can find one !  |

Thanks Bob, and I've just looked on this box and it's dated 2016! Today, the paint has dried, at last I've got the hatch to work but not the nose lamp, it just wouldn't stay still!   And the steering works too!  And the hatch shuts!   And more tomorrow. |

The "wood decals" that "decals" or just plainly printed paper and glued ot the plastic sides? I myself have an interesting way to do "wood grain" too! NOT on a show rod tho!

Thanks Hemi. Yes it is one of my home printed woodgrain decals I've used. Just taken a copy from a website, modified it's size by putting it onto a Word document and printed onto white backed decal paper. All I've done is made the side decal lighter than the kit one that is very dark brown.
