WOW!! I like your color combo, really makes it POP! IMO the wheels look better with the polished look, more realistic than chrome. Nice build Pat!! As for the clear plastic for the windshield, I've used the clear from food trays from the market. Paul

Yes you use the same window plastic source as I do, my wife can't make it out when we open anything with plastic packaging I pinch it and dash out into my cabin with it! The wheels have a magnesium look to them, like the old racing wheels, before alloy became the favourite. The colour combo: I found many images on Google search and all had black roofs, no I didn't like that so found a contrasting colour with the Buttercup Yellow! |

If you did want to "brighten" up the wheels there is the AlcladII chroming system.

Thanks itsonlyakit , I know of Alclad but I don't use an airbrush but they are far to complicated and fiddly for me, so I only rattle cans or brushes to paint.

Or there's now the Molotow Liquid Chrome pens. They're not massively expensive and the results are nothing short of amazing - I've just used them on a set of 1/12 exhaust pipes and the finished article looks like kit chrome, it really is that good.
Providing the surface is clean and smooth (I found 1,000 grit worked fine) then you literally draw the chrome on, it self levels and you sit back and wait for it to dry - that's the only slight issue with the pens as how long the liquid takes to dry seems to vary massively depending on what it's applied to. FWIW I've never had to wait longer than a couple of days.
Seriously, give it a go!

Oh wow, that looks AMAZING! I guess it's like Alclad where the base surface is REALLY important, but I've read a few different places that it self-levels really well. Did you use a basecoat of something underneath it stilljustharley ? I need to do some experimenting, but interesting to see someone get such great success with it! I wonder if it would airbrush well too? I see that you can get a bottle of the stuff - presumably to refill the markers when theyre empty |

Quick apology to Pat for hijacking the thread!
The base surface doesn't seem to be that important in practice. I've tended to use it over bare plastic (all colours) and, providing it's clean and sanded to at least 1,000 grit, then the self-levelling magic takes care of the rest.
I know very little about what active ingredients it contains but I've seen mixed reports of using the refill bottle through an airbrush so i'd approach that with caution.

Hi James, yes it went together very well. As with all resins, you shave a bit off here and a bit off there and hey presto it all falls into place, which it did!
As I've said before all the images both 1:1 and models all had black roofs, too much black around anyway so I looked at contrasts and found it in the buttercup yellow!

No only have I ordered one but also Hi-Viz Shock Orange and Shock Green and white for another go at tyre marking! Thanks for the push I needed to find the Molotow! |

I shall be 'chroming' all manner of bits now, especially on resin kits that don't come with chrome parts! |

Hi stilljustharley, I've added it to this kit, to the wheels,exhaust, radiator, rocker covers and three sides of the windscreen surround, pretty good finish. I'll try and improve as I get used to it, with a steady hand! It will be just the job around windscreens instead of using BCF or in my case Chrome tape!  |
