I have been contacted by the son of John Bogosian, the artist and designer of a number of our favorite kits in the Show Room. I have written him back and asked if John would like to write and publish anything for us in this space. -------------------------------------------------------------- Dave, I'm not quite sure how, but someone I know came across your website and told me I should take a look at it. My dad is John Bogosian, one of the designers of the models that are featured in your show room. I thought it was interesting to see a website showing these things from so long ago. I'm just curious how you have come across these models and your inspiration for posting them on your website. I would appreciate any information you can pass along. I would love to share your response with my dad as he has really gotten a kick out off seeing these out on the Net. Take Care, Raffi Bogosian

That is awesome. I guess he would have never guessed that there would be any interest in them over 30 years later

Daniel, Paeth, Titus, Moriarity, Scott, Carroll, and now this guy....
We just keep adding to the illustrious list of celeb's....... ;D
I will say, I've always been a bit surprised that Barris or Starbird never have showed up here. Of course, these guys are still beating a path to car shows and involved in building and restoring stuff, so I guess it just doesn't leave much time for the internet......

To me John Bogosian has always been the unsung HERO here at the Rally. For doing so much for the hobby we love and designing some of the BEST show rods EVER and yet to never know anything about him or what he's been up to since he worked for AMT its great to say...finally...step foward BIG JOHN and take your rightful place among show rod royalty!!!

This is really great news, as I have enjoyed the kits John designed. It would be really kool if he stopped by from time to time to tell us about what he's been doing, and we can tell him how much we like his designs and what we have been doing with them. ;D

How very cool. I loved his designs as a kid. The trikes were some of my favorite. Did anyone notice that a Hemi Howler and a Gypsy Wagon sold on e-bay last week? About 500.00 for the two combined. The Wagon was over 300.00! John might like this. It was done by another one of those excellent unknowns - Mike... er...uh, forgot his last name. Anyhow, he did this to display with the some-day-to be finished- Lil Gypsy Wagon restoration I have in the wings. Flounder Hosted on Fotki

If your reading this Raffi, would you mind asking him a few questions for us? Is there some work that he did that was never produced? Does he still draw and design? What was the best design HE was happy with? What does he think of some of our builds?
I'm quite sure others have questions as well. Sure would be nice if he could visit and chat here once!

Personally, I'd like to see a formal interview with John, Tom and others. Something that could be recorded via a telephone and then transcribed to print. (Similar to Pl*yb*y's 20 Questions) then placed in 'the Bad News' section for all posterity.
I already hooked Paeth for a future interview this year. There is so much information, so many insider stories, how decisions were made... how the market was gaged etc that would be fascinating to know.
I suggested this to both the trade magazines (the good one and the high gloss rag) and it fell on deaf ears. I even thought it would be great to track down an official interview from Denny Johnson (Zingers), Dennis Doty, Ira Dahm and other pioneering "names".
I was going to bring this up a little later, but I'm bringing it up now. I'm not in the interviewing business, but I think a list of prepared questions as a back bone to a solid interview would be all thats needed.
We've already had contact with a couple of 'names' in the biz, but I dont think we were prepared enough, because we have no official record of what was asked and what the reply was. Thats a shame....
So, Dave, maybe you Brandon and I should hammer out a plan. Collect questions... etc. Anyone with any solid input here that has ideas.. jump in.

That's the model history book I'd buy in an heartbeat ... one on AMT (along with MPC) ... love the other ones, but there sure is a huge gap to fill regarding model history on one's bookshelf!
