How nice is the chrome? Old plated parts have a dullish patina.. the older Cherry Bomb chrome usually wears through the higher edges. Any decals? How old does it look?

Every dog has it's day... LOL. When we first started those guys, especially on the old Hobby Henhouse board would bash showrods for weeeks... We were right all along.

Hey Brandon. Glad to see you are back. I remember the gasser boat. With all the reissues, it looks like you might be running out of grails to kill. Scott Lol. True. It’s a great time for models... I still have a resin Manta Ray I’ll bash... 😁

Like the Hotel California... LOL. Gentlemen, I'd like to apologize for my absence. As usual, a lot in life has changed once again, and I'm just now settling in for the winter... some of you know me better than others but I don't mind sharing the short version. Divorced again, on surprisingly good terms, but moved me and my three teenagers from Memphis back to north Georgia where I grew up last fall. Took a while to get my footing, ended up taking a job at my buddy's hot rod shop building 1:1 cars, got a cool boat for the summer since I live right near a huge lake, did single guy stuff.. and haven't really thought about model building until the last month or three. You know I'm a seasonal builder and get the itch in the fall... but I don't really have a work space at the new house, nor WIFI at the moment since I'm rarely home, but I'm kinda ready to dust off some stalled projects and sling some glue. I'll try to get by here more often.. I do thank Kabdriver for keeping the fires lit.. and I'm interested in the Rommel's Rail build, if I can find one. Two of the builds I pulled out to get my glue flowing... lest ye thinks I lost my touch. LOL. Again, sorry to everyone for not being more active.... It's been a crazy year and some things got pushed to the side... glad to see ya'll still ticking.

Man, I fell into a well of personal stuff that left me without any real time or brains left to build. I do thank you, Kab, for your efforts and cheerleading, and the rest of you guys for finishing your builds. I regret being unable to throw down, as I was off to a good start, but I don't even have a table to build on at the moment. LOL. I do have some prizes for the top three finishers, though. Once everything is buttoned up and we get shipping addresses I'll drop them in the mail.
Once again, thanks to everyone who made this thing go or even expressed interest... and my apologies for my lack of participation and presence.

Regrettably, I've had a major change in my personal life, and moved, and am just now getting settled and my head back above water. Hence my absence on here and other places... Building models has been very low on what I can do at the moment, so I am not going to be in on this one. I hope to finish my builds when I can, and I do have some prizes I will donate to the winners. Sorry... shirt happens.

Yeah, Bobby needs to adopt all of us! I have a small nuts and bolts bin I work out of, with a separate drawer for things like headers, superchargers, non-supercharger parts, rims, seats, front suspensions, rear suspensions, etc. I also have one model kit box that is nothing but chrome trees. and another that is just tires... the rest is lumped into other model kit boxes. I have a Model T and A boneyard box that is nothing but those, a showrod bits box with trimmings and body scraps hacked off of others, and everything else just kind of lives in a model box in the stack. Once I complete a project I toss the box, and this makes room for more. I also have three other square nuts and bolts bins that were given to me by an older guy, they were his when he was a kid in the '60s, and out of respect, I've left all his parts in there, though I do pull from them for stuff, they are just there. I have a toooon of AMT trophies and doo-dads. He and I did the same thing with models, only a few decades apart.

That's an interesting point - I wonder why they DIDN'T take off? Too pricy? Too distinctly Roth? Too wacky looking compared to a regular T bucket or whatever? He was SUCH a big name then, its kinda a shame that they didn't make and sell more, you're right I think the company was just trying to cash in on this, without having to pay Roth the royalty - side step him, if you will - I don't think his name appears on the box. We are talking about the 1:1 Outlaw bodies.... when Roth made the mold, his vision was to make and sell them to hot rodders. Only one or two were made though. The nose piece and another body showed up in So_cal in the early 2000s... I want to say Dennis McPhail had them? I can't remember. BUT... the Outlaw was made when Roth was relatively new, and Fiberglass was as exotic as carbon fiber to most people... I also want to say the molds were not built for production? I'd have to dig out my Roth book and check. BUT.... it would have been neat if he had sold them like he did his trike bodies. We had a pair of Barris buggy molds when I lived in GA... you'd buy a licensed mold from Barris and set up shop in your town and do the fiberglass work and order the doo-dads from him. I had flyers and some other stuff from the setup. Pretty neat.

This is funny. I will say I am happy with the activity on this one.. you guys are really coming up with some awesome ideas in the progress threads.
My building is on hold until I move, but I hope to get back on the burners as soon as I get settled in the new digs.

I remember extending the forks by shoving them together end to end, some were hollow on top. I had a Murray Firecat for years until my last move. I had a Murray Fire Cat when I was a kid, and I loved it... I broke the forks jumping it. I also had a purple Huffy Rail with a Fueler Fork. the fork gets passed around on eBay every once in a while. I'll have to dig for a picture.

I really wish he had been able to make and sell more of those bodies, so we would have had a lot more built by hot rodders... That was Roth's goal, and it didn't get very far, but how cool would it have been to have been able to order and build one to your own liking without having to turn it into a clone?
Great job on the model. Part of me likes the re-issued versions of his stuff. I like the carb scoops and the wheel change.

Pin vice and drill bits, X-Acto knife, and I have a flat rectangle piece of abut 1/8" aluminum plate that I call the frame table. It keeps everything level during fabrication while allowing me to move it around the bench. Its really helpful in setting up suspension stuff.
I also have a small square block of wood I use as a cutting surface for the X-Acto knife and as a sand paper holder. I've had it for years... of course emery boards by the sleeve.
And masking tape... I use it to hold all kinds of things and for mockups. Couldn't build without it.

I will always take any and all Creepy T's and Mummy Machines for their Cragars and engines, and nobody ever really wants them. The AMT Double Dragster kit is awesome for parts, as is the Boothill Express... which now has become a little harder to find. But I love the wheels and tires and Hemi in that one. Gluebombs are always great for parting out. T'Rantulas and Paddy Wagons and Bad Medicines are always welcome in my junkyard.

That's a good question... do we want to hold them until the end, or start loading them into a post? Traditionally we've waited until the contest closing and dropped them all at once. Thoughts?

Hobby Bobby you make me feel like a hack and inspire me at the same time... so many great ideas and execution.
All I know is some proper 3D printed Druid Princess "cake molding panels" would be great.. we can build or scrounge the rest.

Originally I had two names, but traded one to somebody.... I'd already had a brain fart for the name I traded, and ordered a kit on eBay... Since I said I'd trade, I did, and slated the gyro-copter for that name....
Well, my ordered kit came in, and the more I mess with it, the more I like it for my traded name.... so I am switching gears on that, and may just build the gyrocopter in the mix and not enter it... but this new one... maaaaannn.. I'm stoked on it too.
