Hello Friends,
I have been wanting to dig these out for some time. I have been surprised to have not heard anyone mention this on this forum. Back in the mid 70's Revell had what they called the Master Modeler's Club. I am guessing it was to encourage and promote the model building hobby. During the 70's I was a young teenager and actively building models with my neighbor and best friend. Although not as careful as I am now, at the least I was not building glue bombs.
Well, needless to say I joined up. You received an iron on transer for a t-shirt (scan below). Remember this is an iron on, that is why everything is reversed. I never used it so I still have it. The scan didn't quite catch the whole image.
You also received a membership certificate.
After joining you were encouraged to of course build more and more models. The first level was the Master Modeler Certificate (shown below) for building 25 models. All you had to do was send in a list of the models you had built. At this time I had surely built 25 models. I wish I had the list I sent in now.
Then came the Grand Master Modeler level. You had to build 75 kits for this certificate. I'm not gonna lie. There was no way I built that many kits. I made a list of every model I had built, my brothers, my neighbors, ones I had seen in magazines etc until I came up with a total of 75. Here is my proudly "earned" certificate.
As part of your membership in the Master Modeler's Club I think you got the magazine "Get It Together". I'll post some scans of those next.
Did anyone else join this club? I'd love to hear from you if you did.
