If this comes to pass, I will bash a couple. I can see a drag version and a wheelstander.
Another thought ...
I get the impression that if you dont own all the three (or four) molds/tools then there is only the way of making a copy ... thats what this thread is about
or maybe I´m wrong ... and Atlantis owns them all and the mold is actually lost ...
Just as Dave did with Revell and the Dragon wagon. That was my thought - that they wanted to copy the chrome tree?We need some of the questions raised answered or we could go on forever speculating.Hope this works out!Keith

Well, from my point of view, the Bullhorn from Lindberg was the last issue of any of those kits to come out. So with that being said, all of the Pyro kits were older and all of the molds for the unique body parts were kept in one place if this guy has them all. The chrome tree was put back with the T-Bucket styled kit and sold to Lindberg most likely to be produced as the Bullhorn thus leaving the unique kits (Sno Skeeter, Serpent, and Stage Ghost) without a chrome tree. I'd also wonder about the tire molds as well since the fronts are the same across the board from what I remember.
Since he hasn't posted any more I'm wondering how valid any of this is. I hope it truely is a valid effort to get this kit back out there because he could chalk me up for several as well. With the allure behind this kit, I doubt he'd have trouble selling out on them.
I'd still like to know if the intent is for resin or styrene though.

Hello Pete from Atlantis here. I want to make an correction all three kits do use the same mold for the chrome parts which is lost. Lindberg/Hawk same company is running the kit for us. I have a choice of copying the original parts and making a new steel mold or resin options which mean the kits chrome parts will not be chromed but casted in resin I just dont know if it would fly. Lindberg just ran the flying saucer kit for us which we have in our warehouse we are doing all the packaging here. Just waiting for the boxes to come from the printer. Yes will will be doing some old Aurora kits as well.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang ... sounds great ... I´d buy one ... or two ... or three I bid on one recently but it went far above my top bid ... the winner got it for a little over $125. I'd love to see CCBB out again, but even if the tooling is intact (or if the kit could be reverse-engineered) there would be licensing issues to work out. I hope the Stage Ghost plans work out ... this is one kit that the chances were so remote of me even seeing one that I never seriously thought about having one.

Seeing in the "SCORE! Post your great finds!-Thread" another Laramie-Stage-Ghost appearing I asked myself what happened to this very interesting project.
Did Atlantis finally get a chrome tree ? Will they start a production ?... which I would like very much !!!!! Is Pete from Atlantis still around here ?

I hope we see it someday......but retooling an entire 1/16 chrome tree is going to be costly. We had to do that with the MK 59 Imperial. It can be done but costly. Also Pettit just left Lindberg and I am not sure what's happening there.

is it really that costly when its done in China ? I mean all the rest is also produced in China ... at least most of todays modelboxes say that
I do remember kits "made" by a brand named LEE ... at least this was written on the boxes .. but no adress or something found them in another country when I had some vacation maybe 10 years ago ....
that time it was simply a new modelbrand for me ... nothing unusual in a foreign country ... never had heard of it and I was just curious what might be in the sealed boxes ... the kits were nice priced and so I bought a 58 cadillac to find out how it is
they also had some planes as I do remember
It turned out to be a 100% copy of the quite complicated 1/24 Arii Cadillac kit ... the quality was something between good and average ... definitely not first class ... but good enough to make an acceptable model out of it
and dont we have often the same problem with some older AMT or Revell kits ? ... nothing unknown
That was the moment when I thought that the real cost of copying a frame cant be that high ... if it even pays out to copy all frames of a complicated kit ...
still I dont know if it was that time an illegal copy or some kind of weird contract ... cause these kits were sold in normal hobbyshops or fairs
For making a copy of a frame I would try and ask someone in China for a nice price ... for sure todays tecnical possibilities are even much better, lots more perfect than 10 years ago

Rumor mill has said that Lindberg is shutting down soon, so who knows what will happen now.

would that shutdown mean that with a little luck the tools of this frame are available ... without the need to copy ?
would be bad for the modelers world if anotherone would disappear !

The 66 Impala is Revell not Lindberg. And yes it seems that Lindberg is going under. IF they have that chrome tree mold it may be on the market soon. But now a new vendor to run the kits will be needed as Lindberg ran their last kit.

just was thinking about that strange situation ... Lindberg ran their last kits ... and Lindberg also owns the molds for the chrome tree cause they have it together with the complete Bullhorn molds ...
so ... why didnt they use that mold to run the production together with the LaramieStage parts ? thats just counting one and one together Making some extra money by renting a mold is not such bad idea ... especially when the business is not going that well ?

I don't know that Lindberg still had the mold....or may not know it's location. 'Lost' molds may sound strange....but seems to happen more than you would think. The Lindberg 34 Ford pick-up kit was a AMT mold that was lost....then found by Lindberg at a mold shop.

I went searching for this topic again to see what might become of this subject now. Lindberg (Round 2) just reissued the Bullhorn T, I'm wondering if this reissue (LSG) might become a reality, and maybe the entire cast of old Pyro's being brought back?? Any thoughts?

Well, I'm not completely sure it's a dead dog quite yet. I e-mailed Round 2, and Atlantis, no reply from R2, but Pete, the guy that started this topic did send a reply, and he told me to talk to R2.....Hmmmmm (scratching my head)

I actually was just wondering the plight of the Lindberg Psychedelic Surf Buggy that Honest Charlie supplied Lindberg with the special instruction sheet to. Now that they have been absorbed by Round One, I wonder what their plans are for it, if any Seams we spoke about this subject before Paul, and someone showed a picture of the new box art for this buggy. Haven't heard anymore. I believe it was just right before R2 bought Lindberg/Hawk.
