Luca!!!! It's been a while, hope you are well! Nice build on the Baja, it looks great! The little shock absorbers are very cool. I like the custom tires you did as well, they turned out nice. Are they resin or a soft plastic? Nice build. Was that sticker done on purpose. SPT.............. Isn't it STP ? That's a Deal's Wheels thing (those are the original decals), the decals are spoofs of real sponsor decals. STP is SPT, Gulf is Gulp, Goodyear is Goodboot, etc.

Nice build. Was that sticker done on purpose. SPT.............. Isn't it STP ? Yeah, Revell did that on purpose, for humorous effect. They took the Fram logo, and they made it into Farm, if memory serves. Bull helmets, instead of Bell. Snap-Off, instead of Snap-On. Etc. The "phony (funny) car" models in the Deal's Wheels series, if memory serves, included a lot of humorous contingency decals like that. Back in the 70s other companies did things like that, too -- not just the Deal's Wheels kits. The "Wacky Packages" series of stickers comes to mind. They made fun of all kinds of products. Dave Deal often added a number of other subtle, humourous touches to his caricature models ... but to get the joke, you had to be consciously aware of what he was making fun of, or having a good time with. I once asked Tres Wright to ask Deal a question for me, about some cryptic lettering Deal had drawn onto a cockpit panel part for the Fokker Funfdecker -- in a cartoon strip he'd drawn, about the model's supposed origins. I'd have to look the specifics up, but it basically turned out to be a warning to the pilot, not to exceed some ridiculous airspeed like 500 mph. (As if a propeller-driven plane could go that fast!) On Tres Wright's "Deal's Wheels" web site there's a mention of the reason Deal had a pay phone put onto the back of the Swinehunt tank kit, too. Cute little story behind that one, too. The VW Van had an engine so small that one of the jokes that was on the packaging was that one of the kit's clear parts was a magnifying glass, so you could see the "3.5 HP" engine better. Anyway -- nice Baha Humbug! Like you, I wish they'd reissue it!

Well Luca,
Now that you've made it to the big time, let me say it's good to see you finally posting some of your excellent work where others can, and will, enjoy it and be inspired to build to the best of their abilities. What fun is a build if you have no one to share your love of it? As always, you build is a spectacle to behold and you hold all of us to a higher standard. I know how much work you've put into your builds. I hope you will share others with the group soon. We all need to have inspiration.

Luca,
Luca, I agree with Tory, you should let Tres post your builds on his website.
Having been a friend of Luca's for many years, I have been privy to pictures of his builds and he has a ton of them. He has always inspired me to build a "better mouse trap" and as hard as I have tried, he always raises the bar. I believe that is healthy for the hobby and other modelers. And I think you will always inspire all who see your work to do beter and think outside the box on their builds.
And let me say Tory, you are right up there with Luca in the inspiration department!

Wow Luca, the Z and Messa are both awesome! I love those recessed headlights on the Z, nice! And the wheels are fantastic! That Messa is really over the top, it looks just like the box art! Love the motor, is that a resin created by the proto machine as well? Regarding the wheel design, I talked to Dave about that by phone once. He had created the wheel prototype back in the 60's and it never got produced. For grins he put the same design on the Bug Bomb/ Baja Humbug. The prototype (of the 1:1 wheel) sat in his basement until a while back when a buddy of his cajoled him into dragging it out so he could snap some pics of it. A "legit" company saw the pics and wanted to produce it and with his permission they did do a run of them, but then another company started knocking them off. But if I recall correctly, Dave said he never got the promised pay from the legit company either, so the wheels got produced by two different companies and he never got a dime out of it. Here's a pic of the "authorized" version: I have a pic of Dave's prototype somewhere on my site, but can't seem to find it. Tres, this MUST go in your gallery! Luca has done many, MANY Deal's Wheels builds. I am sure he is the most prolific Deal's Wheels builder of our time and probably ever. Years ago I offered to host his builds, in fact he's done a lot of box stock builds that would have made great examples on my DW model pages (as opposed to the Gallery pages) to go with the box art and I suggested that to him. But he refused because he was working on his own site and wanted to use his pics for that, and that's fine by me, I have always encouraged others to start their own Deal's Wheels sites. I'm not sure if he ever went "live" with his site, but if so hopefully he will post the link here.

Luca, that Swine Hunt is fantastic! I see you made some very subtle changes to make it match the box art better; like the different headlight "shields", the modified machine gun on the side of the turret, the different stinger pipe, even the peace sign on the barrel, and of course the custom-made tires. Very nice! I love that Glitter Bug too, beautiful paint and nice detailing! Ultra nice. I really like the rear tyres. How did you get the texture on them? Luca's been working on those tires for quite some time, they are actually custom-made tires. Dave Deal never did like the tires they put in the Deal's Wheels kits. Luca consulted him on what he had actually intended and then went to work on creating them. You'll notice on the front tires in particular, they have convex sidewalls rather than the protruding "ridge" that they normally have.
