Hi, my first post here so I thought it be right to introduce myself. My name is Scott Tansley, I am an Animator (film and tv) and love to paint, draw, animate, sculpt and build these cool 60's cartoony creations. To my surprise a few years ago I checked ebay and found a whole bunch of great rare 60's stuff like Deal's Wheels, Ed Roth, Fred Flypogger, Born Loosers, lindy Loonys, Tom Daniel, EggPlanes ect. I'm lucky to say I pretty much have all the kits I need now with just maybe one or two that just haven't come up yet. The one thing that I take real seriously is "art direction". Once i've got that sorted the rest is fun. Im well into building most of these and quite a lot of searches led me to this website where I have seen some amazing creations. I've been emailing Tres (Deal's Wheels website) who Im sure many of you know off with progress pics and his website was certainly an inspiration for me to get happening again. So I thought I would join in and share the stoke. One I just finished is this Funfdecker. I hand carved the wing struts and prop and scratch built other stuff like the wheels with lathed and milled. I recast the tyres in rubber and created my own decal artwork. Apart from the car paint cowl, the rest is all hand painted. Index drilling the wheel hub holes with milling/indexing attachment that only just fits my small lathe. Works amazingly well.

Your work is stunning. Superb craftsmanship. I have built all the Deal's Wheels kits and continue to build them by adding more detail but my scratchbuilding skills are very limited. Making your own wire wheels is simply amazing. I look forward to seeing what you do with the rest of the series.

Hey thanks for the warm welcome. Im just finishing of this Deal's Wheels Van. Since this is the completed projects thread the van is pretty much finished, Im just doing the mud and grass and muck to the base and van. I also have quite a few ed roth monsters finished now just need to get some cool pics, soon. I have some original sculpts to show off too with lots of how-to progress pics I will post later. Im also pondering doing Dave Deal's glitterbug from scratch. Since I can machine and mill wheels and stuff and sculpt I really want to do a take on the exact look from the boxart. Im pretty confident in making those huge rear wheels from metal block just exactly like the boxart. Anyway I will make the wheels first and that should help inspire the rest of the sculpt/build. If anyone has any questions I'd be too happy to answer. I'll definitely be asking some myself. About 20 years ago I was doing a lot of 43rd scale replica's. These are pretty small works as can be seen by my son in the background. I love working with metal, wood, leather etc which I learnt from these 43rd's and using these raw materials and scatchbuilding It's helping me take my re-lived 60's crazy model kits to a nice place. All Metal Lotus 25 hand made. Polishing tiny metal pieces the size of a pinhead requires some strategy and patience. This is only 3 1/2 inches long.

Scott, I'm not a huge contributor on this site, but I check it often. There's a great bunch of clowns on this site and a few mutual friends, for sure. What everyone else said about your talent and builds is obviously true. The Baron is a challenging build and I would say you nailed the "look". The VAN looks like it will be a knock out and your 1/43 scratch build, well there are laws in this country....LOL Great builds. We're all ready to see the rest. Warm up the camera and post some more! Keith

DragNut. I kept this pretty simple. Sometimes that works better. Forgot his helmet. I'll show it later. Thats a real working spanner too!
