[glow=red,2,300]2 New Kits = 8 Bad Tires?[/glow]
I recently bought 2 sealed "Old School" TIREBIRDS,1 Old School Peace Van, 1 1970's Sitnk Ray, Z-28 Funster, Z-28 Deals Wheels and some DW Glue Bombs from Ebay.
The Tires in the "Old School" TIREBIRDS are defective, totally warped, they are all defective in both Old School TIREBIRDS!
A friend said he had the same problem with his Old School TIREBIRDS also.
All the other Deals Wheels Kits were Great, no problems!!!
Seems like there might be a problem with this kit...If you are thinking about buying one Check the Tires First!

Recieved one set of replacement DW tires from Revell!
This set is not as warped as the two sets that I got in the two Tirebird Kits.
This was pretty good service on a discontinued kit...

Well, after working with these tires I have found a way to "Fix" the Warped DW Tire Problem.
First I glued the tires together with Zap-A-Gap Green Label CA Glue. Then turn the tires with the Warped side up into the top of the wheel wells and then glue them in place.
With the warped side hidden most of the these tires should work fine...Photos Coming!

Most of the recent reissues, the tires are molded in a softer vinyl like most other kit tires. All the older originals, and funster kits they are molded in a stronger, more plastic like material. One might try stuffing the tires with tissue (remember the old motorcycle tires Ira?) or maybe finding a cardboard tube that fits the inside diameter.

[glow=red,2,300]BIG DEAL TIRES FIXED!!![/glow] Some of the newer Deals wheels Tires are very soft and "warped". These tires are from a "New School" Z-28....they really needed some Help!!! First I fit them together as well as I could, trying to keep them as round as possible. I used a lot of Zap-A-Gap along the seam to hold them. Next I used a Sanding Disc in a Dremel Tool and sanded down the "rough' areas on the edges of the tires. I also removed that ridge on the sidewalls of the tires. Then the tires were sanded down with Foam File Boards and 220 Grade Sandpaper. Thanks Roadrunner for the "Sanding and Smoothing the Sidewalls" Idea! Here they are after sanding. There are still Bad Spots, but the tire is pretty round and the tires can be glued in so the the Bad Spots Don't Show! Works for me.... ;D
