Thinned down acrylic flat black is often used to give more depth to the chrome..or maybe a very thin coat of Tamiya clear smoke!! Detail master sells weathering paints you can use straight out of the bottle!!The possibilities are endless. Rule number 1...don't over do it!! ;D Hope this helps.

Well Howdy!! I use paint that is water based so I control the effect more!! I sand the chrome a lil then weather it with brown and black!! I always have used thinner in a testor bottle for weathering also!! Paint the part rust color then use elmers glue in patches then paint it the color you want ,strip the glue patches and you have rust patch!! Theres alot of kool kats in this forum!! They are always willing to help out!! WELCOME!!

There's a Klown here, I won't drop any names , but he builds the most realistic models I think any of us has ever seen and he strips the chrome completely (Easy Off Method I believe) then shoots them with Alclad and does washes for varying effects. Keep in mind shooting Alclad to varying degrees of "chromieness" is an art of it's own. Let alone getting "blueing" or "yellowing" on your exhaust or dark washes on your aged chrome parts right. It's all a matter of practice, technique, determination and holding your mouth just right. Good Luck!!! AND..................Welcome Aboard!!! ;D ;D ;D "Paulie"
