I saw this over at the Custom Clinic years ago and I came across this pic tonight. It was at another site and the post was from 2006. Wonder if it was ever finished? Sorry for pic quality but its the way it was. "]

The guy building it was Jeff Jones but I've never seen a finished version.
If I remember rightly he was also building a full size replica of the Mysterion at the same time.

This is an old thread, don't attack me for bringing it up!! That is me building the 1/8th scale Mysterion. And yes it is sitting in my work room In that condition many years later. And yes, I did build a 1:1 clone of the car, finished it in October. See photos. Now that I have been thru that exercise I have the info necessary to finish the model. I WILL do that, all it takes is time and money!! I also wrote a book to be released they say in October about all things Mysterion.

Here is a photo of the cover of my book. it is in editing and I should be getting the proofs to correct any day now. It covers everything I could find out about the original, tells the story (with testimony from the guy standing there when it was done) of what happened to the car, interesting details about it that are universally misreported in the hot rodding literature, and a big section on all the gory details of my cloning project.

More model photos. Body was carved in wood, fiberglass mold taken (parts in photo) and 'glass body taken from mold. Most engine and tranny parts were cared in wood, urethane molds taken from those, then cast in resin. I stopped work o the car due to real life getting in the way and due to not knowing the details of the interior and lots of mechanical details. Doing research for the book and building the 1:1 clone I now am confident in finishing the model. Now if real life would just cooperate!

That's awesome. Please keep us posted on the book's progress as well. The book is with the editors at McFarland Publishing for final layout. The next step I do not relish; I will have to proof the draft which shouldn't be a big deal. The scary task will be to create an index. Go thru the whole manuscript and write down where every important word appears. Think about it.
Incidentally, McFarland is a unique publisher. They specialize in 'academic pop culture' topics and there are some really fun titles there. Two of their books I bought are two by John Jacobus on the history of the Fisher Body Craftsman's Guild. If you aren't familiar with that marvelous program, as a modeler you owe it to yourself to Google it and find out about it. It was truly the Major Leagues for the auto modeling sport.

I have been invited by Mark Gustavson to give a presentation on my Mysterion trek, concentrating on the 1/8th scale version at next year's GSL.

Back working on the 1/8th version in earnest. Bought a jeweler's oxy/acetylene torch to help with all the silver soldering. Mark Gustavson asked me to make a presentation on this model and the Mysterion in general at next year's GSL model show. It will be the last CSL ever so I couldn't very well turn him down.
