Trying to decide if i should shorten the rear of the quarters to fit the roof better? Maybe this will help you decide, I just stuck the roof from my T-Bird project on it to give you an idea. I still have to cut the bottoms off the back of the quarters to add a filler piece. What roof did you use, it looks great on there.

That is right were I was thinking of cutting! Thought it looked a little long back there. Are you working on one too?

Shortened up the rear quarters. I like it short. Just a little primer ,no putty I hope! The chassis fits pretty good ,may have to cut the rear pan a little.

It looks a little nose heavy now that you've shortened the rear end. Maybe bob the front end back a little to match. I had to cut the back and stretch the hood in front in order to make room for the engine... If you just bob back the front between and eighth to a quarter inch or so. Looks sweet!

I was thinking the same.I may section the nose to get it lower.

I don't think you don't need to shorten the front, it's the bulk that makes it look front heavy. Cut a horizontal slice across the back and add to the height of the body.
I'm not doing anything with mine at the moment. I just wanted to see how it looked without that humongous tail.

I was wrong! I did a quick edit and Myturk was right, it still looked front heavy. Here's the front shortened about 1/8" and the rear bulked up. Looks like I'll be shortening mine too,,,,,,,,,,someday.

It does look better shorter! I really hate starting something when I'm trying to finish the Joe Dirt car. Then the Stage Coach ,V W van, 55 Chevy, and a Woody Magnum

Mike Turk (Myturk) made some suggestion for the front. Use some of my daughters Play Dough to see if it would work.I like how it looks so now a little more cutting. Thanks Mike!

Looking better every time you post. Those front wheelwells look fantastic.
How spooky is this, I have almost the same idea for the headlights. I filled mine with Magic Sculp, and plan to drill tapered holes through it for projector beam headlights or cut out a section and do some hideaway headlights similar to a 64 Riviera.

That tilt hood/nose is Ice Cold (which is WAY better than cool)! Thanks ! Still have to fit the hood a little better and figure out a hinge. I did get the headlight area filled in and I also removed the parachute and license plate area and smoothed that out to clean up the back. I looked at the film that Ira sent to make the taillights out of. I need to take some pictures later.

Seems like the Monkeemobile has lots of possibilities, all of which, I think, make for a better looking piece than the original. Keep up the good work.

Finally found a big enough piece of transparent red plastic to make my taillights! Not finished but got them roughed in, This is how I made them. You sandwich all the pieces together with out gluing the red plastic in. Then you glue this piece into the body (just grind out an area in the body for this piece to fit.)after you push the red pieces out. You have to make some holes inside to push the red plastic out, Then you grind the piece to fit the shape of the body. When your close to the shape of the body ,wet sand and polish the area and the red plastic. Remove the red plastic and paint the body, slide the red pieces back in and you have flush taillight in any shape. I was looking for this the other day ,finally found it! OMG! WOW WOW WOW!!!!

The ideas are endless when using stuff found around the house! Tail lights are really a great idea! And master building skills!
