Long term projects finally complete.... ;D
This is probably the only "true" (or damn close) replica of Chuck Millers Fire Truck, loads of scratch built stuff, even the wood ladders. My parents bought me this kit for my tenth birthday in 1968, and it kicked my butt back then, and being that this kit is not even close to the real deal I'm glad Round 2 brought it back so I could have another crack at it, glad that it's finished! The oddball coming in next post!!!

This is what happens when you have to rob parts from a kit to create your vision of something else.....
When I started the Fire Truck I had assembled the kit chassis, then decided to scratch up a new one. So, what to do with the already complete chassis from the fire truck? Since I needed to rob the radius rods from an extra Outcast kit I decided to just build something out of the rest of the kit. Here's the knucklehead I came up with....
The Rodder's Journal delivery hack.....

2 nice builds John, probably the best Firetruck I've seen. I will refer to yours, when I build mine. Thanks!

Hey John......love the builds especially the Rodders Journal hauler. I this directly from the Outcast kit? obviously not the wheels/tyres, but the frame/suspension/body etc?
Sorry, also......do you build in a lab? these and all your other builds are just so bloody clinically clean ;D

Hey John......love the builds especially the Rodders Journal hauler. I this directly from the Outcast kit? obviously not the wheels/tyres, but the frame/suspension/body etc? Sorry, also......do you build in a lab? these and all your other builds are just so bloody clinically clean ;D Thank you Lee! The frame on the RJ car is the Outcast frame (actually the frame from the fire truck, they are the same) It's the same chassis as the Tognotti T which was the start of three, well four versions counting the Outcast that MPC used in showrod kits. That chassis is only correct in the original Tognotti T, but not the Paddy Wagon, or Fire Truck, but it was MPC's way of getting more bang for the buck, and the reason I built a new chassis for the fire truck. The black car is mostly stock Outcast. I added some different coilovers from R&D Unique to the independent rear, a cut down stock grille from AMT's '25 T along with the stock headlights, and bulb horn. Wheels, and engine parts are parts box. The headers are from the Outcast kit (originally from the Vending Machine) and were cut down about an eight of an inch at the flanges to match uo with the narrower rear tires.
OH, I don't build in a lab, but I do wash my hands a lot when doing final assembly..... ;D

Well lets take into consideration here that John pretty much reinvented the wheel on this one.. We've had lengthy phone conversations about this build and some of the obstacles that you overcome are too much to single example.. This isn't a damned out of box build here we're gawking at- no sir.. This IS Chuck Miller's Firetruck ... A well thought out - well executed- work of art... You did good John... Real good buddy-

Well, John the "anal wonder" has just outdone himself as usual. John's knack for correctness and perfection are just off the scale in everything he does, and this build is a perfect example. It IS so true to the real car, unlike the poorly done stock kit.
Just incredible buddy! Big frickin' greasy thumbs up!
