The very best way to get a decent pearl effect is to use a pearl paint. Using a pearl topcoat over decals will give them a different look.

What I'm trying to do is get it to look like the decals are pearl too so I was thinking if I paint it white and then apply the decals and then clear with a pearl it would look like the decals are pearl also If any body has done this let me know what you used

Well, if that's what you want to do, Testors, and Tamiya both make pearl whites, and pearl clear topcoats, I would strongly suggest using the Tamiya lacquers rather than the Testors as the Testors will yellow over time. If "I" were going to do this, I would airbrush HOK pearl white, apply the decals, then shoot some 2 part urethane with HOK pearl powder mixed in. No worries about decals with urethane. Here's an old build I did many years ago using pearl clear over hugger orange, you can see how it changed the bright orange, to a more peachy color with the topcoat. That's why I mentioned that fact.

Nope, just add a little pearl powder, and stir. I was going to suggest doing some test runs on cheap plastic spoons before you do the model. Good luck!!!
