I'm just curious Bob, ?Where did ya dig -up the 409 engine?? ... I'm always try'n to find one of those !! ( again ) i'm really liking this project, and want to say: I think that if your version, is'nt EXACTLY matching the drawing, I don't think there's anything wrong with that at all. I think you're doing GREAT !!

There's a real nice 409 in the Revell '62 Impala Special Edition kit , but they all look the same ! Before I turned in last night I got silly and made up a set of headers just for fun !

I spent my time this week doing a lot of body work . I've got the scallops in the doors and the shape of the hood finalized . . . still a lot more to clean up and I have to rescribe the door opening . The tires were painted with flat black and then I laid them flat on sandpaper to remove the paint and create the whitewalls . A light coat of Future gave them a bit of a sheen . I'm curious what you guys think about the whitewalls . . . leave them like they are or go all the way to the rims and have wide whites ? I'm having a tough time deciding ! That's all for now , let me know what you think !

Here's another pic of the Sting Rod. Thanks DVS for posting the front view of the StingRod . I looked at that when I was thinking about doing this build and decided not to use the traditional Hot Rod suspension . The only problem is I can't get the nose like that with the suspension I'm using so it's going to look a lot different ! Have you considered trying one of the Testor's, or Lindberg Smoothster's noses?

Thanks very much John ! I'm leaving the whitewalls the way they are , but the tires need an edge between the sidewalls and the tread area . . . it looks too rounded .

Have you considered trying one of the Testor's, or Lindberg Smoothster's noses? Thanks for the suggestion ! I've tried a few different noses but they don't really work with the square shape of my frame / suspension without extending the nose forward . I still might modify the suspension but I'm not real anxious to do that !

I would be kind of a double nose treatment based on the drawings.

How is this project going? Been busy with other things but I finally had some time this evening to work on it a bit . I spent a couple of hours working on some headers , not to difficult but it takes some time to get all of the pipes to match ! These photos are of the 3rd set I made . I still have to trim the engine flanges to the correct shape and make the outlets to the sidepipes . I don't have the correct size of tubing so a trip to the LHS is needed before they can be finished , hopefully by the weekend .

I made it to the hobby shop today and picked up some more tubing . Here's a photo of what I ended up with . I know the muffler is a little big but it's going to be covered by . . . Heatshields !
