TIE X-WING INTERCEPTOR!I started this one with parts left over from my Jedi Tie Wing Racer. These parts are mostly from the X-Wing Fighter and the Tie Interceptor. I cut off the Snap-Fix Posts, so these need to be glued together now. More Coming...

STARFURY!The Tie X-Wing was inspired by the Starfury from Babylon 5. I started with the X-Wings. Next I cut out the Center Section of each Wing. I am going to Reverse the Wings so the Engines are on the Outsides of the Wings. Here are the Center Wing Sections fit together. They will support the New Reversed Wings after they are mounted. WINGS REVERSED!I glued the X-Wing Armature inside the X-Wing Body. The X-Wings will be reversed and fixed in place. I cut the Guns off all of the Wings. I'm going to add a 1/4" plastic strip to the back of each wing so that I can change the shape of the Wings. Here are the Wings with the strips glued in place with Zap-A-Gap CA Glue. More Coming...

WING FRONTS!I decided to add a strip of plastic to the fronts of the Wings so that I can change the Wings shape. I marked the shape on the strips before gluing them in place. I cut along the marked lines with a cut-off wheel. I did a little filing and sanding before gluing the strips in place. Here is a finished strip in place. More Coming...

SORRY R2D2!Oops! Cut R2D2 right in half! I cut off the back of the X-Wing Body right where R2D2's Head was... I am going to use front of the Tie Interceptor on the Tie X-Wing. Here is a quick mock-up... Mock-up. Back view. More Coming...

BIG MEATY ENGINES!The underside detail of the X-Wing Engines doesn't seem right. The Engine Detail looks too small. I am going to replace the kit parts with nice Big Engine Halves taken from the Extra Parts Box. Here is what the Engine Half looks like after trimming. Here is what the Big Engine Halves look like in place... I also cut pieces of plastic tube to fit in as shown. More Coming...

LITTLE OFF THE END PLEASE...I decided to remove the excess plastic from the Wing Ends before I add anymore Hardware to them. I marked the area to be removed. A cut-off wheel was used to remove the excess. Here it is cleaned up a bit. More Coming...

MORE WINGS!I cut out 2 new wings from more extra X-Wings. I glued an "L" shaped plastic strip on one side of each Wing. This made attaching the Wings easier. Next I sanded down all of the sharp edges and rounded them off. Then I glued the rear end from the Tie Wing on the back of the X-Wing Body. More Coming...

BIG WINGS!I glued the 4 Modified X-Wings in the slots in the X-Wing Body. I also added the Intakes. Here is the rear view with the X-Wing Engines in place. You can also see how I cut down the backs of the wings in this photo. More Coming...

TIE COCKPIT!I cut the wing supports off of the Tie Wing Cockpit. The End-Caps for the Wings will be a perfect fit in the cut-out areas on the new cockpit! More Coming...

MOON ROOF!The roof of the Tie Cockpit has slotted windows in it. I opened up the slots with an X-Acto Knife to let plenty of light in. More Coming...

FILLING A GAP...I going to fill this gap for the Hinge pieces. No Hinges needed here anymore. I cut a piece of plastic a little bigger that needed and attached it with Zap-A-Gap. Here it is with the plastic piece sanded down smooth. More Coming...

SUPERCHARGERS!I decided to add More Power to the Engines. I glued 8 bottom pieces of the X-Wing Guns together to make 4 Superchargers. Then I drilled and reamed out one end of each piece, large enough to fit the chrome end of a Gel Pen. Then I cut the ends off. Next I slipped more Pen Ends over the Cut Ends of the Superchargers. Here is the Supercharger mock-up. More Coming...

ROATATING DISK!I applied a couple coats of Filler/Primer. Then I cut a circle shaped piece of plastic to fit between the Body and the Cockpit. This will allow the Cockpit to rotate and make the gluing of the Body and Cockpit much easier. More Coming...

ROCKET STAND!I drilled a hole in the bottom of the Tie X-Wing. Then I put some glue on the end of a length of plastic tubing and slid it in the hole. Then I put some Zap-A-Gap glue around the tubing where it comes out of the body. Next I cut off the tubing flush with the body. I am using steel wire to hold up the Tie X-Wing on the display stand. The wire fits right in the tubing. More Coming...

DETAILS... I added a flat plastic strip on top of one seam, for each Supercharger. This will give me a good surface for gluing to the Engine. Then I added a half round plastic strip to the other seam on each Supercharger. No reason, I just thought it looked more interesting. I had to remove the ring from the backs of these covers so that they will fit on the sides of the cockpit. More Coming...

ALUMINUM & MAGNESIUM! I sprayed the parts with Model Master Aluminum Plate. Then I buffed everything with a soft rag. Next I hand painted the Engines with Model Master Magnesium. I decided to mount the Tie X-Wing on a Star Wars Pod Racer Base. More Coming...

INSTRUMENT PANELS!These decals are from a Revell Jet Fighter Kit. I made a copy, a little bigger, on the printer/copier. The copy is easier to work with and I can print it to whatever size I need. Here is the right side Panel glued in place. Here is the left side. I am going to add some more definition with a fine line Sharpie later. More Coming...

LUKE...IS THAT YOU?I was expecting a Darth Vader Pilot in the Tie Interceptor Kit. Luke is about an inch tall, I painted him with acrylics. Looks a lot like Skywalker to me... Here he is in the cockpit. I applied a black wash to Luke and painted the edges of the Instrument Panels to blend in. Here is the view through the Windshield Opening. More Coming...

BRASS & MAGNESIUM!I panted the engines and some small details with Model Masters Magnesium. Next I drilled two holes in each Engine, one for each end of the Brass Wire. Then I inserted the Wire in the first hole and tightly wound it around the Engine and inserted the other end in the second hole. Brass Wire is very flexible so you can squeeze it down for a real tight fit. More Coming...

PIPES & HOSES!I drilled some more holes in the engines so I can add some Black Plastic Coated Wire for Hoses or Pipes. Here are more Hoses added. No glue necessary, the wire stays in place by itself. Another View. More Coming...

DECALS & DETAILS!I did some Weathering with "The Detailer" Black Wash, and added Tony Nancy & Starfighter Decals. I added a Blue Rhinestone for the Hyperdrive and 2 Half-Pearls for Fun! The Tie X-Wing Interceptor is Finished! I'll be taking some Finished Photos Soon! Finished Photos Coming Soon...
