Looking forward to seeing what you do with that one, Mike.
Soak the parts in Westly bleachwhite to remove the mold release agent. Scrub them down with an old toothbrush. Rinse very well.
Wear a mask when sanding. CA glue and 5 minute epoxy for bonding and minor filling.
I've tried painting the entire PE spokes and and rims with Alclad after they were assembled. The hope was the spokes would look less flat. The results were OK.
Flounder
Have fun.

Well, it looks like Westly's Bleachwhite no longer exists. Any other stuff out there worth using? Seems no one likes the new Black Magic brand Bleachwhite.

Whomever says they don't like the Black Magic brand of Bleche White has never tried it and is just assuming it has changed , it hasn't . I still use it regularly and it still cleans and strips paint and chrome just like it always has . Great stuff !

I'll take your word for it and give it a shot. I just saw a lot of complaints about it when I did a Google search, but they were mostly about how well it cleaned White Wall tires, which most weren't happy about.

Had to come back to this thread to reread some of the info. Anyone find it odd here we are a year later and Steve Scott hasn't gotten any farther in this project of re-releasing the Uncertain T kits he is "planning" on making. But has taken in payments for over 300 kits. Correct me if I'm wrong here,.... but after 45 days you can no longer file with Paypal for your money back?

Hello, I just found this forum/link regarding the Uncertain T (the new version of the kit). As you know, today is 4-26-2016 (at least three years since the first offering of the new kit). Steve Scott has still NOT produced any prototypes, kits, parts. NOTHING of the New alleged Uncertain T. If you visit the SS Unc T web site and read thru the REGISTRY page, at least 22 refunds have been processed (indicated by Steve Scott's name). Initially there were (are) 365 pre-orders ranging from $25.00 to $40.00. Thus a rough estimate of $14,000 +-. If you email SS and request a refund, his reply is that - 'You will get your money when I have the money'. This indicates that the SS Uncertain T kit is a SCAM. SS is a scam. If you read his Facebook page, there are many posts asking the status and 'Where is the Money'. Same old reply - none of your business, I have health issues, you will get a refund if/when I have the money. Excuses Excuses Excuses. Then you will probably be banned from the SS facebook page. The money from the pre-orders is most likely gone. Wasted. NO kits. BUYER BEWARE. If you paid for a pre-order of the kit - best to submit your refund request now. Hopefully you will get a refund, but unlikely. DO NOT BUY THIS Uncertain T kit. It will never be produced. It is a scam.

I think he has been scamming since he reappeared; trying to get people to give him money to buy a ticket to the mainland because: Hawaii is a terrible place to live; to get to the mainland to rebuild the UT; to get to the mainland to whatever story someone might believe. When he first reappeared, I sent him the name of a man who could help him get the UT back on the show circuit, if it still exists. I doubt it does or we would have seen it by now. The last time I asked him if he made contact with the man I told him about, he cut me from the FB group. Anyone who mailed him money should contact the post office and file a mail fraud claim!

steve scott himself is trying to market and produce these kits. if you look him up on facebook you will find all the info you need. i think its great but he is taking quite a while, i did reserve a number kit just to have but at almost 100.00 its pretty pricey for a builder. he is trying to do them on a 3d printer, not sure how thats gonna work, i bought a 3d printed body a few years ago and it was junk so i dont know. i do wish him all the luck.

Hello Jim, I am sorry to read that you also have been scammed by SS for the Uncertain T kit that is now the Never-will-B. I learned about the 'new' kit almost three years ago and all seemed sincere. Well, I am out the $40.00 for the kit. I have talked with other pre-order purchasers and they all indicated the same response from SS for a refund - 'I will refund your money when I have it - I have health issues - I am trying to move back to LA'. The same excuses over and over. If you post a concern or inquire to the status of the kit and the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$, you will get banned from the SS U-T facebook page. People - WAKE UP. SS has cheated everyone. There is no kit, no plan, and no prototype. NOTHING. I work in 3d printing and SS is not going to make a kit from a 3d printer. The parts can be made, but it's not just making the part. There is finish work and other factors involved. SS has even said that he is just learning how to use the 3d printer (how did he pay for the 3d printer??? How $$$$). To do 3d printing you must have knowledge of CAD (computer aided drafting) to create the programs/files etc. to create the parts. The process is very involved. SS has and still is missing the boat on this project (and getting back to L.A.) Jim, you lost your money. If you recently paid (and hopefully by Paypal) contact PP immediately for assistance. If you paid by check, credit card, sent the payment via the USPS, then not receiving a refund is FRAUD.................

Out of curiosity, I just checked out his website . He says he needs a LOAN of $ 30,000 to get him back to the mainland and he can pay the sponsor back quickly - Yet he cant refund $40.00 on something he couldn't produce. Very sad. I know all the pictures of him from 50 years ago show a young, clean cut guy, but I get the impression now he's probably an unemployed bum ,living in a run down trailer somewhere, blaming everyone for his troubles and hoping to scam others for cash.

After all that has happened with this person, what have we learned?
Don't dig up the past, you may not like what you dig up :( Who went and found him? :(
Don't send money to someone you don't know :( (many of you did)
Don't believe everything you read on the internet :(
The 'Uncertain T' is dead and long buried/destroyed :( Nice try at nostalgia but it back-fired :(
Hawaii is a bad place to live with terrible weather (well, Steve said so, so it must be true) :(
Many people are gullible and bleeding hearts and will feel sorry for anyone without worrying about the truth :(
Whatever happened to the Silhouette? Is it in someone's garage, maybe hiding in California or Hawaii? :) Let's do this again, eh :) ...not! :(

Some people think I'm just a natural prick, But I had him pegged 2 yrs. ago, and I told him so. He tuned his back on the T's fans then, and he's turning his back on his fans now.

Somewhere deep in my archives of emails I have some correspondence with one of the first couple people that made contact with Steve. When we talked on the phone it was stated that it didn't look good nor did it sound good back then and that was way more than 2 years ago. I believe the effort to find him started on the old board but I honestly can't remember. In any case, it's very unfortunate that it is still continuing after years.

He was on here, or maybe his Facebook page when he surfaced again.. I think he probably had good intentions when he started, but it slowly unraveled into some drama. He's an old man, and from what I gathered about his " tractor trailer loads of things that had to be sorted and sold" or whatever, I suspect he's a bit out of touch and a good portion of kooky. I remember I stopped following his page when his attitude turned sour after he set up some wacky merchandise packages and then got mad at the lack of response. I think he overestimated the demand for his stuff... and he was grouchy. Not a good mix.
If you sent him money, I'd write it off as a loss. I will be surprised if he is able to do anything.

After close to 90 days, if I'm not mistaken, I asked him how long the process would take. He did go off with, what seemed to me, a timeline that was unreadable. I knew at that point I had to get PayPal to get me my money back. Fortunately, I was able to get it all back. Sorry to hear some folks don't share my experience.
