I had the bodyshell which I chopped and welded together, I had wheels/tyres,engine,steering wheel, seats and made most of the rest. My first dropped rat rod. Oh and I opened and hinged the doors. I'm glad I got a decent deal with Fotki. I had a free 2.1GB with PB and had used just 0.6GB and they wanted hundreds of dollars to renew and account I'd used without trouble for 5 Years!

Another site where I've shown this, 30 lookers and no comments. Is it worth putting anything on here? Or is my work just not good enough?

Another site where I've shown this, 30 lookers and no comments. Is it worth putting anything on here? Or is my work just not good enough? Pat ! That "other" site while it may be larger is loaded with hypocrites and know-it-alls ! I'm sure you've noticed that the traffic is way down there just like it is here , when that happens about the only people still posting are those mentioned above . Don't misunderstand , that site has a lot of great people on it and I have many friends there . But you can't take it personally when no one comments on your builds , just let it go and keep on building ! It has happened to all of us . That said , I apologize for not seeing your post over "there" . Lately when I visit it's very quick to see if anything is new and I rarely comment on anything , I'm betting most people do the same . Oh yeah . . . your Rat Rod is great ! It has everything a Rat Rod should have , plus an Uncertain T chop ! Love the license plate !

Thanks again Bob, for your comments and after 61 years of building starting when I was 8, I'm certainly not stopping yet a while, as I've got another 20 - 30 years left! No I don't take it personally, someone else mentioned that people look but don't post in fear of upsetting anyone. As a person who doesn't have any other form of social media, because Facebook etc. I see as 'anti-social' media as people hide behind false identities and just cause a lot of trouble. I wish kids wouldn't take that rubbish so seriously and either chill or just switch it off. Yes your comments about the Uncertain T I've answered on the 'other site'. I've recently been able to take delivery of a complete Uncertain T resin kit from Oztralia, I copied the rear part of that chassis and upside down springs for this build up. And the plate hanger is a paper clip, and the plate hangs off there nicely. I would imagine during travel it would swing about pretty wildly! I'm pleased you like it and don't apologise for anything as I think we know each other by now, and I hope to build the Uncertain T sometime soon.

I don't know if its spring fever ,but like Bob says, traffic is down right now . I'm guilty of it too, but mostly because my work changed all the computers and anything hobby related is now blocked , so when there's nothing to do I cant pop in here and see what's up. As for rat rods, anything goes and yours looks like it could run with the best of them !

Thanks for your comments Don. When I was at work we also had a complete block on any personal computer use, so I know how it feels, yet we didn't really have the time to do anything but work, with very fast deadlines and customers on the phone from 9am to 8pm that kept nearly 100 of use flat out each day and for four hours on a Saturday morning! Yes the rat seems to look OK.

I'm guilty too. Retired now but I seem to have less time even though nothing but no work has changed. Pat your weathering is perfect for the "patina" look and I think the entire build is cool! I like it enough to see what I have laying around to do one too! Paul

Thanks Paul for your comments. I've found that 'retirement' is just a rumour! With the models/grass cutting/house maintenance etc. Well I was just looking round the shelves, and thought, well I've already built that 3 in 1 kit, opened the box and thought why don't I chop it, although never really done one before. Researched on Google for rat rods and saw the dropped 'wedge' effect on the cab. Added the 'weld' seam round the middle to perhaps cover up the cut, copied the rear chassis from my newly obtained full resin kit of the Uncertain T and everything else as they say is history. Someone else, somewhere else is wanting a bit of help and guidance on 'rusting' although this is only my second one. Advised him to go back to brushes adding various colours (brown, red, silver) and rubbing a bit away when dry and repeating the process until satisfied. Big shock to the system as the last 60 years has been spent getting the glossy paintwork perfect!

Well, Pat, I've been asking myself the same Thing sometimes... ... I've posted something... ... and no one has touched anything... ... and I've also wondered if it's not good enough... But it is today, the course of Things... ... it is easier to press an I LIKE button than to communicate and write something... ... and it is not meant to be evil, it is just so... ... and I hope that one day will change again... The question, whether it is good, or not, is a question of taste... ... now to your build, yes, I like it, it fulfills all the criteria, nice build, Pat!

Thanks hobbybobby, It's interesting to hear on various websites the frustrations by many c-modelmakers, that people looking at these offerings have no time to make a single comment. Yes taste comes into all of our builds, and I try to build something different every time to stretch my skills and learn more about different processes.

Big shock to the system as the last 60 years has been spent getting the glossy paintwork perfect! Ah yes! Grass cutting, vegetable garden, fixing the area around our pond seems to be more work than I'd thought! My wife wishes for us to travel. Her plan is for us to go to OZ and New Zealand to see friends there. I hope to convince her to also stop in Cebu to see a fellow Vietnam vet friend. Weathering I was the opposite. For years I modeled armor, WWI and WWII aircraft and trucks so it was a bit difficult to make things shiny. One thing I use for weathering stains and oily rust is the last bit of tea color that I get when I squeeze out the last bit of water from my wife's tea bags. I dab it around bolt heads and seams. Well there's a tip about tea bags straight away! Well as it's our 50th Anniversary next year were flying from here in the UK to Sydney in OZ and on a ship to Fiji and stopping off at a few other Islands round there and back to Sydney and off again round New Zealand and stopping off there a few times. Retirement seems to be very exhausting tearing here and there and somewhere else. Now were looking a Park Homes, well they are very posh permanent homes that may be disguised as trailers, for downsizing for our 4 bed to a two bed
40 ft X 20ft All inclusive, furniture/kitchen/beds/gas heating/electricity. OR of course our favourite in the UK 'bungalows' or ground floor living, with no stairs to get in the way between living/cooking/lounging/showering and sleeping spaces. Ah well I first before we do anything else. Modelmaking must come first. Sorry I' seem not to be able to remove the PB Threat!

Ah well I think I'll finish the new 1/32 Revell 1/32 VW................. first before we do anything else. Modelmaking must come first. We down sized from a large house built in 1849 to a new house on less property, but I still seem to be given a big to do list. I like the home in the photo. To me it's just the right size.

I'm very interested in seeing what's inside that 1/32 VW Buggy box , I'm thinking of buying one for a project I have planned .

Body, floorpan, bottom of Corvair engine, steering wheel, four wheels/rubber tyres, two seats, roll over bar front and rear nerf bars front lights and a comprehensive decal sheet even with whitewalls. See body, finished with some Sand Crab decals! I didn't paint the body. Yes modular homes that's what our eldest son who lives in Canada said. Two bed/two showers/toilets, open plan kitchen diner lounge.

Great looking build Pat! The proportions are great - looks like a rat rod builder got inspired by the Uncertain T and did their own thing! Have you ever tried the salt method of doing old weathered paint? It's such a cool trick! A how to video, in case you've never seen it: I used it on this Tall T which I really need to finish soon...

All the photobucket pics are gone..... It appears unless the "free" Photo Bucket users pony up $99, you can't link your photos to the forums. P.B. offers a $50 package but that eliminates only ads , no linking photos.

I called them about not linking PayPal and was told they will only accept a Credit or Debit card as they need to keep it "on file" In plain english F them.
