Ohhh, that's a fun build Pat! I've never built an Airfix brand model - how are they to build compared to the other big names? That wing is HUGE! Is that in the kit?

Hi kabdriver James. This was an Airfix kit of the Subaru WRX in 2001!They build pretty well mainly because they are basic. The rollcage for example is two sides and a rear square that goes down to the rear floor, I then sorted a piece of small diameter plastic pipe and put it between the two sides over the drivers seat to complete a 'cage'. I found two 'vanes' of a rear wing,(here in blue) and made the uprights and end plates from plastic card, as the front has two'vanes' that are just triangles cut from plasticard. I Googled 'Time Attack Cars' and got a lot of photo's of them and copied a rear wing. I also scavenged an aero tunnel from a sportscar that I had converted to a road car to add to the rear......... and just used any decals I could find to add to the tuner/racer/drifter look. I found some 1:48 scale aircraft numbers/letters but they are in grey and don't show up as well as hoped. It's difficult to find the larger numbers needed in black! I'll have to see If I can find some on the web and print them myself in black and red.

I've never seen a time attack car before! Interesting! Some even run a similar wing on the front!

Yes that's right James. Also see the weird and wonderful specials that do Pikes Peak each year, just crazy!

Now there's a superb build idea, thanks James. On the bench today the Monogram L'il Van, so building the engine today, cleaned up the body after washing all the parts. Built the Sand Crab a couple of years ago and the decals were shot so printed a few off and added those............ And after that a Fujimi KDR30 Skyline!

Ohh, I've got a L'il Van here! Is it just me or is it nowhere near 1:25th scale? They seem so big compared to most other stuff!

Well I lined it up with a few other builds and it is bigger!

Interesting! I guess, as a showcar there's no reason why it HAS to be perfectly in scale - I always just wondered why it was so much bigger than, say, a Red Baron or a Beer Wagon or something.
Anyway, cool kit!

I've no idea, just the designer making it stand out.
