Yes the decals look in great shape but I'll bet you this kit that if I dip one in water it will disintegrate !! I always seal my decals no matter how good they look , even new ones . It's a pretty simple kit and being a stock build there probably won't be much to show , but I'll post what I can .

I did a mock-up to check the ride height and it's high off the ground which is the way these old roadsters are supposed to be . I like the traditional look but want to lower the front a bit to give it a nice rake . Luckily there's an easy way to do that ! The frame rests on those two tabs (arrows) so removing them lowers the frame about 1/8 inch or a scale 3 inches . Here's a nose to nose comparison . It's not much of a drop but I think it will help the finished look .

It's amazing how a relatively simple and subtle mod makes such a difference to the stance. Looks great Bob!
I love this stage of a build, putting parts together and working out in your head what needs to be done - this is the best bit for me! One of them, anyway

I love this stage of a build, putting parts together and working out in your head what needs to be done - this is the best bit for me! One of them, anyway Thanks ! It was suggested to me that carefully thinning the spokes on the front wheels would be a great improvement . Well I had to think about it for a couple of days (to get up the nerve to do it !) and last night night I dug out my tiniest files and went to work . An hour later I had one wheel finished and no broken spokes ! Here's the result .

I saw hobbybobby post something about thinning out the spokes on a wheel before, and it really made a difference on the examples he posted. Looks GREAT! Just gotta do the other three now huh? A tiny hole drilled on each rim with a valve stem mae of some thin wire would add a nice little bit of detail too - but they look great just how they are!

Or one to do, I guess, if you're running those other wheels on the back...

Great find, Bob, is this the original from 1962? Yep , all original plastic ! Haven't had much to post but I have been working on and off trying to get this finished . I stripped the chrome off of the radiator shell and front axle , then realized I had to paint over black plastic . . . big mistake ! Finished the chassis this afternoon . There were wood floor boards molded in so instead of painting them it was easier to make some decals . To be continued . . .

Oh wow, that's SUPER clean Bob! Really nice work! The decals look great in particular! I'm really enjoying watching you work your magic here Thanks ! Back when I did the mock-up it was obvious that without fenders those rear wheel openings would really stand out , so I did some looking and decided to make some filler panels like these . Not keeping with my "Box Stock" build but they will really improve the overall appearance . I made a quick little mold and used my Vac-U-Form to make the panels . Trimmed and test fitting the panels . Finished and painted to match .

Thanks again everybody ! Here's the filler panels after a trimming to clear the frame , everything fits nicely now . And one last item that needed attention was the seat . It needed a back panel added since it's visible when installed . That's about it ! On to some decals and finishing this one up !

Of all the older kits I've built, I still amazed that the Monogram decals after decades still go on great! Paul
