I am curious to know what others do to the scars on chrome parts when they are separated from the sprue. I use flush cutters to remove the part from the sprue and then clean up the cut with an exacto blade. Touchinjg up the scar with chrome paint is less than ideal as it does not match the color or the shine. I know that some strip the chrome and use alcad and still others have the chrome parts re-chromed. Short of those drastic measures is there any other decent alternatives? On larger parts I have successfully used strips of bare metal foil. Can anyone share their experience with having model parts re-chromed, who does it and what it costs? Also, can they be re-chromed after being removed from the sprue or does the guy who re-chromes them prefer they stay attached. mike

Like DVS said, Molotow is the answer to chrome sprue scars - applied properly, you'll never see the join!

I need to get me some of that Molotow Liquid Chrome. Where is it sold? Hobby Lobby, I don't remember seeing any at Michales. Or you can buy some on eBay or Amazon.

If you can airbrush, the chrome refills work REALLY nice too. Like, kit-chrome kinda nice. I'm SO impressed with that stuff

I received my set of Molotow Chrome pens yesterday and have used the 1mm tip to cleanup the chrome scars on my VW Beetle AA/FA build. I'll be posting a few photos there later. I'm definitely a believer of these pens! Wow!

The chrome in my Molotow pens seemed to have gone dull after a couple of years. Is this normal? What could be the problem? I used the same 1mm tip pen on the mirrors of my Van build and where I added the Molotow chrome it looks like grey paint now. Help please!

I used the same 1mm tip pen on the mirrors of my Van build and where I added the Molotow chrome it looks like grey paint now. Help please! I recently had the same problem with an older pen... This is not because of the chrome itself, but because of the tip of the pen, the ink dries out there and clogs the fibers of the tip… Dip the tip into a little puddle of Isopropyl Alcohol (91 vol%) or clean it with a soaked paper towel, pump it up some by repeatedly pressing the tip down on a piece of paper, should start flowing and the results made the pen chrome again. As I always say, these are my experiences, not claims, so please try it yourself...
