$36?!
That’s about a buck per part, with that kit 😂😂
That said, I’m sure I’ll pick one up when I see it discounted...and hey, if it’s successful we get more reissues of other cool stuff!
Thirty six bucks is a LOT tho. I saw somewhere that they were looking at thirty a piece for those old MPC trikes that they’re going to reissue next year, and that’s a lot for those too - same deal, they’re cool but there’s not much to them for the money...

Finally - one I did NOT buy on e-bay at a premium price. Waiting for the Hemi Hauler to follow.

A few things I know about the kit. MSRP - most of us know that you can find kits at a good discount....and if Hobby Lobby gets it 40% off. This kit took a LOT of work to get the OK. Want more Showrods.....buy one. Show we are buying what we like. There are going to be some upgrades, good things, that will make it a better value too. If this one sells well enough there are other waiting in the wings....all I can say right now. thx

Well, Gentlemen, I see, you all forgot, this model kit has been very rare and very expensive so far and a holy grail for real Showrod Lovers! There are still some romping around: www.ebay.ie/itm/Lil-Gypsy-Wagon-model-kit-by-AMT-1972-John-Bogosian-/173915561330www.ebayshopkorea.com/itm/AMT-LIL-GYPSY-WAGON-125TH-ORIGINAL-MODEL-KIT/192385124488I have tried for years, to get hold of one of those things, of course, in order to build it! Unfortunately without success, most were already gone, or the deals blew up to much my Budget... As it happens in life, you often see the trees, but not the forest... So I decided to build my own: coffincorner.proboards.com/thread/18052coffincorner.proboards.com/thread/18500/lil-gypsy-wagon-kitbashAnd yes, I will buy an reissue one or two!

Best I ever saw was 70% off - but they ALWAYS have a 40% off one at a minimum.
I wonder if that’s why the MSRP price on kits seems higher the last few years? To account for these coupons?

At our local Michaels they never have anything showrod related , its always a few snap together jets, a Monogram tank that's been reissued 20 times since the 60s and the usual Camaro /Mustang stuff. I do get a lot of my spray paint and brushes there though when I get a good coupon !

Micheals buyer more than likely can't tell a Chevy from a Ford.....They do know Mustang and Camaro......so they buy those.

Ok. So I headed off to the local Michaels with coupon in hand, and was surprised at how few models were actually available. Like maybe 10 or 14 tops. 2 Camaros & 1 Mustang I'll bet you're dying to know. Couple of snaps, Titanic, 70 Revell Barracuda a dinosaur or two, and one of the Revell '32 Ford coupe / highboy. Which left the store with me moments later for $16.01 after tax. So THANKS AGAIN for the tip and 50%off coupon. As it's good through the 21st, I'm going back for one of the $17 Mustangs, because even though I am fat in Mustangs anyway, $8.50 is hard to pass up.

Just my 2 cents . . . unless you see something else that's worth driving back for don't waste your gas after buying the Mustang . The Michaels here never gets anything new , the buyer keeps restocking with the same kits over and over and over . The last time I went (about 10 months ago) they had the same kits that have been there for more than a year . In fact they still have a couple that I bought there almost 3 years ago !

The last time I went (about 10 months ago) they had the same kits that have been there for more than a year . In fact they still have a couple that I bought there almost 3 years ago ! I did go back for the Mustang, but noticed they were in the "shelf location" of a snap Camaro (the fine print of the shelf tag). So not wanting to go through the trouble of carrying the stang to the front and then cancelling the purchase because it rang up at $29, I decided to grab one of the Barracuda's because I researched that kit to find it wasn't a repackaged Mono 1:24th, and was genuinely 1:25th. (Sorry for the run on sentence). After opening the 'Cuda at home and seeing the box was jam packed with 147 parts pieces, I may go back for the last one today. (well worth the $14.50 price). Apparently you can use the same coupon over and over. I have a couple of Slixx pro stock decals that would be just perfect for a 2nd 'Cuda.
I go about a month on a tank of gas these days (retired), so it's not a huge waste of gas, but I agree the selection doesn't seem to warrant a separate trip. Oh, and the Michael's is right across the street from Hobby Lobby!

If you're nice to the girls at the store by me they'll let you use the coupon in the same visit too - they have to finish the transaction and start a new one but if you've got a few high $$ items to buy and they'll let you, it's worth it!
I asked the girl on the register if I could use my same coupon to buy two things at 50% off and she said "ummm, let me check you out for everything else and you say to me that you forgot that one thing and then buy it after"

That Mustang is probably the only kit I bought from Michael's in the last year. I've always found their (buyer's) selection of kits to be disappointing (read that as mundane), but I enjoy going in to look thru the rest of the craft stuff for bits and pieces (I regularly use the coupon for paint and brushes).
Here in Northern VA, we finally have some Ollie's (they get overstocks and buyouts), which sometimes gets fun rod kits and sells 'em at $10 each.
The best brick-and-mortar kit selection around here is actually a Hobby Lobby (about 10 miles away-closed Sundays ), and they always have a 40% coupon available. My gal and I will go and check out in separate lines .

Yes! This guy has been waiting a long time too. Any chance the Hemi Howler will follow? We get more showrods by buying showrods.......I'll just say that...... BTW Revell has another run of Rommel's Rod on the shelves if you need/want one......wondered if a German company would make another run!!!

Huh! Interesting that they reran the Rommel’s Rod so soon - it was only a couple of years since we last saw that one! I guess it did well enough to get another go round! You’d think they might have done the Tijuana Taxi or something seeing as that’s still a relatively fresh tool I’d guess (having been redone in the last 10-15 years), but I won’t argue about seeing more showrods on the shelves of hobby stores!
