Hi
I am posting this thread here because I'm not sure that it would fit anywhere else on the site.
I am willing to guess that many members of this site are old enough to remember the heydays of Auto World's from 1962 until the late 70's.
I still have some of my old catalogs and one has the order form filled out with my wish list.
I guess that I never got the funds needed at the time.
The reason that I am writing is that if you recall Oscar Koveleski was the driving force of the company and someone who we owe a debt of thanks for moving the model car industry forward at the time.
It didn't matter where you lived in the US at the time, you could mail order kits, paint and other items for building your vision.
He was also instrumental in helping to promote Aurora and later Tyco HO racing not to mention Car Model Magazine.
Oscar is still very much with us, but living in an assisted living home in Scranton, PA the original home of Autoworld.
As is the case because of Covid, these types of facilities have strict visitation rules if they allow it at all.
I would like to reach out to members of this site and suggest that if you have any memories or recollections about Auto World and what it meant to you as an adolescent, please consider dropping Oscar a card.
Also, aside from Auto World he also was an accomplished race driver in the era of 70's Can-Am.
These brutes were high horsepower, low weight and a beast to drive.
Many drivers were lost during this time.
If you were at any of the 70's races I'd bet he'd like to hear about them as well.
There was a model released in the 90's of the car that I believe has Denny Hulme as a teammate.
Here's the address to write to:
Oscar Koveleski
Room 230
Gino Merli Veterans Center

Thanks for your time and Stay Well!
