So, our lease was up in New York last month and with all that corona virus stuff happening my wife lost her job, our neighbors were terrible and everything was closed...so we just moved out to rural Indiana. Never thought I'd leave NY (and we'll probably be back in a year or two) but I guess we're corn-people now, out in the cornfields
Moving is a pain in the ass, but the good news is that for what we paid for a 1 bed apartment in Brooklyn we can get a 3 bed house in Indiana - got a yard, a pool, space for our belongings...who knew New York was expensive?
Haven't had much time for building in the last month or two...but finally, for the first time, got my own hobby room to work in! Beats building on the couch!
Some of the stash:
And a nice view from the bench!
And the new spray booth is better than shooting in the bathroom like I used to do
Anyway, that's why I haven't been on so much lately - we got anyone on here in Indiana anywhere?

Looks like it will be nicer than N.Y. I left is 2016 after growing up in N.Y. I'll never go back to live there again. I do miss going to Sonic and Nathans though. Good for you. Paul

Wow, you guys talk like there is no NY outside of the city! I live in upstate NY and have views like that, too! Anyway, congrats on your move, hope it all works out. I have never had Nathan's, so I can't miss it, & the closest Sonic is over 20 miles away and I've never been there either! Not much on fast food or hot dogs, I guess!

Paul We were right by Nathans in Coney Island and used to go there a lot...we even talked about getting some of their frozen fries to bring with us in case we couldn't get them out here.
Went to the supermarket right by our new place and they had a whole rack of Nathan's stuff...for about half the price it is in NY

Brian I really wanted to try moving Upstate - although I haven't explored much of it past Sleepy Hollow.
My wife has family around here though, so we ended up in Indiana for a year, maybe two - but upstate is definitely where I think we'd like to be when we come back! What I've seen of it looks so beautiful!!

How do you like that multicolored 10 drawer thing? I picked up some of the 5 drawer ones and have been looking at getting a 10 drawer one to organize my decals once & for all.

Congrats Sir! I hope you are happy there. I moved from Charlotte to the most rural county east of the Mississippi in WV and I'll never go back to a big city. It was great for many years but Charlotte has gone down hill bad and now that my wife's folks have passed and all my kids moved out of NC I do not see my going back....even visit. I think you will like it once you get used to it. Enjoy!

Jim - Sleepy Hollow isn't upstate! I'll PM you my address so you can Google Map it (just don't share it, please!). I consider the triangle between Binghamton, Syracuse and Utica as "upstate", anything west of Syracuse (excluding Buffalo/Niagara area) to be "western NY" and anything above the Thruway between Syracuse and Albany to be "the Adirondacks". Also, there's the "Hudson Valley" region from Westchester up to "the Capital area" around Albany. Everything from Westchester down is either "the City" or "the Island" LOL! IMO, there's nothing better than looking out your windows (all of them) and seeing green!

I like it - I wouldn’t have picked the rainbow one, but my wife got me it, so here I am with the rainbow one 🌈🤪. They’re on special for $30 at Michael’s right now - thinking of a picking up couple more!

If you can’t get there on the F train it’s probably upstate 🤪😂. We went so far north I couldn’t even use my Metrocard 😂😂😂. I’ll check it out - thanks for the PM! It sounds nice!

I lived on the "east end of the island on a 900 acre farm that my family had for 16 generations until NYS taxed and regulated us out, they even wanted to take half for the NYS open spaces land bank. Since I could not sell my own land I "gave it to the Jehovas Witnesses for a dollar a year rent. Now we have a new 4 bedroom house and big garage for our toys on a 100 acres in Maine, pond with fish, wild life and nearest neighbor is 4 miles away and 1/3 of taxes and. Only way I'd come back to NY is in chains. This is our views. Hosted on FotkiHosted on Fotki

Enjoy your new life Jim (and wife), it's great out in the country, we know nearly everyone in our small town where we've been for 40 years (52 years since marriage we've lived within 10 miles of where we are now) about 65 miles from London. I was offered a job in London when I was about 25, I turned it down, on the train everyday, dirty, crime ridden place and it hasn't improved! There's a lot of house building here now but not too much. To exercise during lockdown we walk into the town each morning early to shop for fresh fruit and veg each day, and walk right round town, it takes about an hour, I've lost nearly a stone in weight, and feel a lot better for it. Please enjoy your newly found freedom in the country, it's really good!
