I just watched a cheezy on demand "B" movie called "Pitstop" .It so low budget that its filmed in black and white, even though its a 1969 movie . The good part is that it full of cars - there are two gassers in the very beginning and a Barris looking custom car , it then shifts to a junkyard and figure 8 racing where all sorts of rust free 1950s cars get destroyed (One is a Hudson Hornet and I swear there was a 57 Fury in there) Later it shifts to modifieds racing figure 8, then some sand rails and early homemade dune buggies and finally to an oval track stock car race. George Barris has a cameo in what's supposed to be (or actually may be) his shop and the Calico Surfer is there. Sid Haig plays the bad guy . Its as low budget as you'd expect, but most of the racing is real . Its just too bad they didn't shoot it in color!

Some of the Figure 8 footage was from ABC's "Wide World of Sports" coverage of Riverhead raceway late 50's to early 60's.

The shot with all the traffic and lights in the back ground at night is Main Street RTE 25A and the last exit of the LIE. Also the trailer clip the track is paved and small (Riverhead is only a 1/8 mile oval) and the other track is dirt. The shot from the trailer about 5 seconds long of stand was were we always sat so I recognize the views. Spent every weekend the from age 8 to 13 with my pop while his cars raced. Than I found out about dragging! The trailer probably used stock footage of general racing.THe track was on the WW of S TV circut. Riverhead was and is still a NASCAR short track, aside from the demo derbies most cars were bent but not rusted. Paul
