Like many of us, I enjoyed building models - especially show rods - as a kid in the early 70s. I got back in the hobby around 2015 when I discovered that many of my old favorites were still available on Ebay. In the past 7 years I have had a wonderful time as a builder, as well as some quite frustrating moments. In the past few months, my building has slowed down considerably, mostly because I have obtained and built pretty much all of the show rods that I admired, and I have to say my collection is awesome! I still look for kits that I haven't built, and every now and then I see one that I kind of like. Last month I found a 'Groove Boss' from AMT and I thought 'That's pretty cool, I guess I could build that'. Unfortunately, it has turned out to be one of those kits that was obviously designed by someone who's never built a model in his life - nothing fits - and it's incredibly aggravating. In a moment of clarity, I thought 'why am I putting myself through this?' and I found myself crushing the partially built chassis in my hands. And I realized, I'm officially done with modeling. I'm very proud of my collection and I will cherish it always, but there will be no more additions. I will consider it 'complete'. I'd love to hear if any of you have some thoughts or similar experiences you'd like to share.

There have been a few times where I became frustrated or even bored with building, but I've always come back to it. Now I build when I can, and sometimes its only a couple of parts on in a week . As for the frustration ?.. well, I've really got into restoring old built up kits partially for the price I can get them, and partially for the challenge . Sure, there's times when I feel like I should chuck it against a wall , but I just walk away and get to it on a later date. Its up to you of course, but maybe take a few months off , and see if your creative urges step in again .
