I apologize for using my father's account. My name is Jason, his son. He and I used to build engines, cars, and also models when I was much younger. I am helping my mother handle estate issues and my father has a rather large collection of unboxed models. I haven't gone through everything yet but its in the 2-400 range. If anyone would be interested in purchasing the lot or a significant portion please contact me directly. jason.canney@yahoo.com

Man, that sucks. Never met the man but he kept this place on an even keel. Sorry for your loss, Jason, he'll be missed for sure.

So very sad to hear of Paul's passing. We go way back here and on the old Rally site. He was a truly great builder and a hell of a nice guy. Our condolences to Pauls family.

Rest In Peace my friend 🥲 we should dedicate this forum to Paul and call it Canney’s corner. He was a big part of this message board. He’s been here since the beginning.

Paul goes back to the LISTBOT when we had “invite only” members on the original Coffin Corner (before the Coffin Corner II) , also instrumental in the Straightline Modelers , and a couple 8th scale forums .. Paul was definitely NOT. A stranger to the modeling community .. gone too soon but never forgotten . Starryeyes

Starryeyes Yep, I've known Paul since 2002 and was part of his big scale forums as well. i remember the old coffin corner before it changed to this one back in 2006. He was a big part of making the contests on here a success over the years as well.

this is awful news . My condolences to Paul's family . While I never met him , I felt like he was a friend , and was always willing to help someone out, or give advice . He really was a huge reason this site has been going strong all these years.

I've known Paul for over 20 years and always respected (if not necessrily agreed with!) his opinions on everything in scale - a great shame and a great loss.

Your dad took over this site for me administratively quite a few years ago when my full-time travel with my company consumed all of my time. (I just retired June 1 of this year.) I'm shocked and very sad about this news. Your dad helped me and was a guidepost to all here, managing this site for me (and all of us). While yes, these are "toys", they are much more to us than that and I must address and process this loss immediately, both emotionally and logistically. I will contact you directly as Paul has all of my source files and has been adding to the "Guest Gallery" for many years now. I need to get them all back to keep this thing going. Just terrible news. Too damned young and productive. He will be missed. --Dave Rasmussen, Rallymaster.

If you give me some keywords to search for I will search through his computers for the code. I am a software engineer by trade,, a field my dad helped me get into decades ago. That part should be easy to solve and get back to you. If you can also give me some guidance on how to find a new and loving home for his collection of built and unboxed I would appreciate it as well. I am sitting here crying seeing the community he was a major part of. His collection is massive but I honestly don't know where to go next. Its not simply about money, but honoring his legacy with something he was passionate about. Although getting my mom something would help my dad take care of her one last time. Please send me an email at jason.canney@yahoo.com and I am happy to connect via phone, zoom, etc to help get you the code. fyi I am leaving Ohio tomorrow evening but will be back in September/October. If I can find the files before tomorrow night I can put them on a thumb drive and send them when I get back to Colorado. Best, Jason

Jason, First sorry for you loss. It may help if you tell us what state your Dad's collection is in/ Location may help target someone. I know a few people that buy collections but travel can be a make or brake. I hope someone here can help you.

I am deeply saddened by Paul's sudden departure. I looked like he was going to pull through. As a member of this group of modelers, I saw Paul as both a leader and the ghost in the machine. He will be so very missed.
Thank you, Paul, for all you did to make this place welcoming and fun.
Flounder.

There are a few hundred+ unbuilt and over a hundred built. I think a number of the built are on this site and the CanneyGarage site. Jason
