Thats a great save of one of my all time favorite bug models. Very dear to my heart with all the air cooled years I spent. Someday I hope to stumble on a tach, mirror and license plate for mine. But if I don't.. I don't.
Thanks for breathing new life into yours.
i got this as a gluebomb. it was built, then painted over everything with some sort of clear green paint . there was so much glue used that the roof caved in from it. the rear slit window blew apart while i struggled to get the glass out, but after a lot of filling and sanding of the body i had it all painted. while fitting the tach i dropped the body and it shattered like an egg!- back to the drawing board ,more filler, more paint. after a few more months i finally finished it.all the glass is windsheild glass from the parts box cut and traced from the originals, and the mirror is a floor shifter from the parts box .the exhuast tip is from an intake tube from a junk mclapper i had lying around. john verkerk made the taillights out of resin since my bug only had one left on it . now revell can reissue this kit!

Man, for all the trouble you had with that, it sure looks fantastic! I think I would have thrown in the towel after the body shattered -- great job that you continued!

No worries Don. I was just commenting that it was nice to see you got it done and how nice it looks. I am glad I could help you get it there as well. I do wish I could have helped with more but even without all of the original parts, you can't even tell. It looks great all around. Really nice save! Some classic that is harder to retrieve... but fixing the glue bomb model car is like restoring a rusted car with lots of welding and patching. It needs a lot of passion and love on certain hobby. You have invested in it. Congratulations! Well done ;-).
