Holy cow ... TWO Big Frankies???!!?? I've got an original Aurora Wolfman Wagon to rebuild some day (thrift store find, who obviously didn't know what they had) ... the rest I've got the Polar Lights releases. Super neat build of the Go Kart (and fantastic rescue as well)!!

That's a nice one, I read somewhere that GOdzilla is the only one PL couldn't repop! As a fellow Aurora collector, my hats off to you. Well done and a heck of a nice save.

That's a nice one, I read somewhere that GOdzilla is the only one PL couldn't repop! As a fellow Aurora collector, my hats off to you. Well done and a heck of a nice save. Almost as soon as the Polar Lights kit hit the shelves, they were told to take it off. PL retouched the artwork on the box by painting out the dorsal fins, but the kit itself still had them -- no one was fooled by that for too long. Originally I had read that Toho, the Japanese movie company that makes Godzilla, told PL to pull it, but a short while I read an interview (believe on a monster movie site) who said it was Sony Pictures that made PL pull the kit, saying it wasn't "respectable" or not serious enough, and they had final say over that even tho apparently Toho may not have had a problem with it. That makes a little more sense than Toho saying "no way", considering all the different goofy toys that have been released in Japan (the Super-Deformed Godzilla, plush Godzilla in rock band, Godzilla on skate board, etc) that they've OK'd. Polar Lights was doing a lot of reverse engineering on their stuff ... I think its great to be able to build the old Aurora stuff, but they used different types of plastic on some of their kits so you can't use regular model cement ... and they've had fit problems of their own as well (and instructions that somehow missed a step or two, or a part or two). Still, I really miss that company ... modelers may gripe about what RC2 did (or did not) do for AMT, but RC2 really gave PL the shaft and let them die out of total neglect. One of the LHS here still has plenty of PL kits on the shelves ... not sure about the GoKart tho. Possibly. I'm glad I picked mine up when I did. I stop by there occasionally to pick up other stuff before that time comes when they're all gone and then suddenly they're getting big prices on eBay.

Ooooooooooooooooooh man!!! The BIG FRANKIE!!!!! I'd give my left nut for one of those!! LOL. Thats one on my Grail List! I had really hoped Polar Lights would repop tht dude when Tom Lowe was a the helm, but thats just a blur now.....sigh... I've bid on just parts that went thru the roof, so I finally gave up! Nice work on all of your kits! I missed the reissue Godzilla GoKart from PL. I understand they got pulled quick over a dispute with Godzilla/Japan. I snatched up the rest of them tho!

I'm not sure I understand. The second pic show a bunch of parts in the foreground and the completed kit in the background. Are the pics of the finished product the restored kit, or just a second one?
