Awesome thread!! I love the old Aurora kits!
Any word on the "new" Aurora company? The last I heard the only kits they had were the figures.

Your track is very cool. I wish I had room to rebuild mine. If you are going for all the detail with mountains and tall overpasses, yeah it takes a lot of room. There are alternatives if you scale it down, keep it flat, smaller buildings, etc... Rolling board that would fit under a bed or sofa. Fold down from a wall. Hanging by pulleys from a ceiling. One of the koolest ideas I have seen was a two sided table! Remember the old chalkboards that you could flip over? It was based on that. He had a road course on one side and an oval on the other. There was a locking system and fold down legs when you got to the side you wanted to race on. And it was on wheels! Marty

His manager/people must have been running the line because he will not charge anything if you catch him away from them. But (as pretty much everyone else on here knows) I am setting up a model car/stuff display at Volo IL and I am sure that he will want to sign as much as he can before being drug away to sit at a table. Normally it's 10.oo if you buy one of their items. 20.oo if you have your own. That's pretty much the going rate for all of the people that show up at places like WOW
www.loserscarclub.com/Little_Losers_Model_Cars.php I guess I am used to getting Richard Petty to autograph as much as you want for free. HAIL TO THE KING! Marty

Now that's got to be a rare setup! Where do you live Marty? Looks like your in the garage, which guy are you in the picture? I'll come race ya! madmodeler, that was me too! We have a boy named Mercury and a boy named Lincoln. Believe it or not they were both my wife's idea. When Link was born we thought it would be a girl, we were going to call her Cricket (just like the one that used to be quite active on this site). What ever happened to her anyway? I'm in central Ohio, just West of Columbus. I'm behind the camera. Marty

Very Kool Track!!! I have been racin' slot cars since, well, along time ago. Here is my H.O. Track. It is an an Aurora Tub Track, a commercial track made in the sixties. It is made of fiberglass and the track sits down in recesses. I used all original Aurora Lock & Joiner track. I still have some cleanup to do on the Tub. I have a Yahoo group just for these Tub Tracks: groups.yahoo.com/group/auroratubtrack/When the weather is warm enough I invite friends over to run laps. We usually run original 60's cars. BTW - all those boxes on the shelves are model kits. ;D Marty

I got one last week from a friend for 45.oo. To me it's worth it because of : A- I got to help a friend out by getting it from him instead of E-Bay B- I will get Mr. Barris to sign it for me in July C- I can use it for reference when I am building my Flintstone 1/24 version They are pretty nice so ot's worth 39.oo Does Barris still charge outrageous prices for his autograph? I took stuff for him to sign at the GoodGuys show in Columbus. I got out of the line when I saw the price for his signature. I forget how much it was, but way to much for me!! Marty

The Lil Coffin has been a favorite of mine. Yeah, I have the model and several of the Hot Wheels and I even converted a HW to a slot car.
Is it being restored or is this a clone?
BTW - Thanks for sharing the pictures!

I got this at the toy show in Dayton, OH today. I almost passed it by. I decided to look closer at it and saw on the bottom: "FRICTION POWERED FUNKY CHUNKY VANS CREATED BY GEORGE BARRIS OF HOLYWOOD" I thought the price was right, $25.00, so I bought it. Sure looks like the "Paddy Wagon" to me! Marty

Leave the Zee Silhouette as is. If you find another one, then convert it to a slot car. I agree. After I got it home and looked at it more, I decided that since I have never seen one before, never knew it exsited, I should leave it alone. For now. The chassis is cracked in half so I would not be destroying that part of it. BTW - Does anyone know if ZEE called it the Tornado, or is this the correct base for it? Marty

Yeah, I know it is a cheepy knock-off. Ya gotta love the flower power stickers on it! My first intention when I saw it was to convert it to a slot car, which I want to do to the Chaparral ZEE cars I have. Is this a rare item?
The seller also had a Hot Rod Roadster, but I was running low on cash at the time. Good thing I didn't know about the ATM at the hall!
Does Bill Cushenberry have a web site? When I search for his name I get a LOT of articles, but no web site.
Thanks, Marty

I attended the toy show in Columbus, OH this past weekend and this is what I found: It is a 1/32 scale Silhouette!! It is made by ZEE International, Inc. I do not know if the base is the correct one for this car, if so they called it Tornado. Does anyone have anymore information on this car? I have Chaparral race cars made by Zee and in searching I see muscle cars, race cars and choppers. Thanks, Marty
