Interesting reading. But a few things I don't understand that maybe you guys can help me with... 1. Whats george Barris got to do with this and his hatred? George didn't copy the car. I am not sure he claimed he built it either. 2. Whats Steve so p'd or bitter about after all the years in the first place? And why did he take the car and hide it after a few short years of showing it. I mean no offense here, it is an avergae guy that built ONE car almost 40 yrs ago and thats it. He didn't cure cancer, change hotrod history, invent the wheel, etc. He wasn't a Roth, Barris, Jeffries, etc. that created histroy, built multiple cars, started a kulture, changed the way hotrodding was viewed,.. etc. I mean the car looks very cool. But so have 1000 other no named builders cars in the last 40 yrs that don't act like this. I am not out to take anything away from the guy, but in all reality, there isn't ANYTHING to take from him anyway. He built one car and than grabbed his football and went home after a few short years and seems to be bitter about the whole scene. Who is he trying to hurt or affect after all these years keeping a car hidden in a garage? Not to down on anyone here. I understand the interest by builders here over the history/design of the car. It was another wildly design model many built as a youngster that would love to see the car again and build once more. I get that. I just don't get HIM and his whole thinking. That right there makes the Uncertain T what it is...the fact that there was only ONE built...and the mystery of it "disapearing". The car has an illusiveness to it, and that is what makes it so unique. Not to mention the fact that when steve told his friends that he was going to build it, they told him that it couldn't be done. Steve proved them all wrong by building the car, AND winning the gnrs with it. I mean take a REALLy good look at the car...it is a work of art from top to bottom. Normally guys that build a gnrs winner go on to build more cars, which makes it even that much more mysterious.

Well thats settles a few stories. LoL Well I want to settle a few curiosities in a sentence that was written in the Street Rodder July 2003 Issue about the Uncertain T. If anyone recalls, I found the AD in the July 1967 Hot rod Mag with the Invader show car on the front cover and posted here on the corner a few years ago..... that would be the first coffin corner discussion group. Pat Ganahl said " it was listed in the for sale column in the back. Where did he find the AD huh here maybe ?? I even went as far as asking Hot Rod magazine who placed the ad of the Uncertain T in July1967 issue. They said they check into it but never returned my e-mail. If you guys remember I also found the Popular Hot rodding JUNE of 1967 Issue of the UNCERTAIN T Frame on the cover. Steve Hammmonnnnnn chimed in and asked a Question as to why was it in the Popular Hot Rodding issue when Steve S. was associated with Car Craft. hummm good question maybe Chuck can ask him that question too. LOL Why am I writing this ? to Clear the air and give credit where credit is due. Read on and Build on My fellow Clowns. I think this clown is ready to get off the soap box now. LOL Don V P.s. boy that felt good

Hey Don .. as stated in the corrected post :
" There was a small classified ad in Hot Rod magazine in like 1972 showing it for sale. It wasn't placed by Steve. Some say that George placed the ad to get back at Steve, but most likely not, because if he, George, got caught for doing it, he would have gone to jail as per the court order!"

Well, I was pretty damned close I think....(Plus I'd been listening for probably 90 minutes to multiple stories, but I think I got it from Alan Gilky not Steve. Alan was actually the one who found him if credit should be given...) I have nothing against Steve either for the records. I just didn't seem to make the connection with him. I'm glad he built the car, it's damned cool. I just wish it would surface and put the mystery to rest...

Not stepping on any toes Chuck , but the issue was July 1967 of Hot Rod Magazine, I believe Honest Charlie has a copy of it in his web page. Yes I know Steve did not place that AD as you stated in the First Coffin Corner discussion Group way back then. I just wish we can get all that Info because there was a ton of knowlege in that discussion. If you'd like a copy of that issue let me know. don v

I hear ya Tim. I have nothing against Steve and dig the car. I just couldn't figure what the whole deal was and the animosity, or why did he seem to be in hiding, and why he has this whole secret "bubble" around the car keeping it hidden. My opinion is that he better bring the car out while there are still people that actually care. Before long nobody will.
Well, its a cut-throat biz like most things. Thats life my friend.

Found out that some of this is right about having to use the trade mark to get it. But it never said it had to be a car to use it to keep it. I wont say what I am going to use it for, but know this I wont loose it. I have to file a kit and a package to keep it. I am working on it as we speak. They also did not say I had to sell a million copies either. I just have to be using the mark. ;D So back to work..... Making my kit...... I think I will make it a series kit.....

Isn't it strange that our own leader of the FBI Charles "Starry Eyes" Darnell has all this up to date info?
And isn't strange that Charlie "the Wad" talks to Steve (not me but Scott, heck I can't even get so much as a birthday card) all the time.
And isn't it a co-ink-e-dink that The Chuckster has a long history of building 1 to 1 Rods and the like dating back the Steve Scott's time.
Ahhhh-HAH!!! CHUCK is the one that's had the real T stashed in a barn, in the hay loft, under a cover, behind the third bail on the right, just outside of Peoria, taking West Pottstown Road, turning left on Elroy Road, continuing on to Jones Hollow Road until you see the sign that says "Steve Scott Slept Here"... this whole time.
Problem solved, now stop all this nonsense and go to bed!

When you filled out the trademark application, it should have asked you what you were using the trademark for and whether or not you were currently using it. That would limit its use to whatever you put on the document. I have done quite a few trademark applications in Los Angeles. Also, like you said, you have to send samples (I forgot the actual term used ... specimen?) within a certain amount of time or you'll get a letter that says you need to do so or lose the mark. I have shipped off boxes for microphones, wrappers for bread (with bread inside) and so on. I am assuming that you are making the "kit" so you can meet this requirement. Do what you can to protect the mark if you really want a legal hold on it. While you may have the trademark for now, if not careful, you may lose it. Also, if someone else pops up with the name, you will have to defend your mark or lose it. We did a trademark for Planet Kids and the next thing you know we got notice to cease and desist from Planet Motors. The design was just a planet with a ring around it. The Feds really watch over this part of intellectual property.
Have a great day!

I have read this whole thread, WOW !! Very interesting, in my opinion. I'm not gonna try and have any opinion about this subject, other than I do like to see the core group having such discussions.
Ken, Congrats to you on getting the trademark ! Good for you. You sought it out, and got what you went after. I think it's Super Great that these possibility's are out there, If you reach out for them. -my 10 cents.

I think everyone took my Statement out of Context. I was referring to the Article in the Street Rodder Issue on July of 2003. That I just wished if Street Rodder and Pat Ganabl would have printed their sources on the Article and give credit where it's due. Credit due saying give credit to the corner as a whole. Yes Chuck Deserves finding him and I was not discrediting him in no way shape or form. So heres the pics .....Enjoy. ViVa la Chuck ! lol Here is the Popular Hot Rodding Magazine that is in Question.
