Some of you may know that I am into r/c monster trucks. This past Jan. I bought a 1:10 scale nitro powered monster truck. Well, the company that made it (redcat racing) claimed this truck to hit 60 mph. After running it severeal times, 60 mph is a far cry from what it would do in reality...more like 30 mph top speed if that. Well, i had my fun with it, and the opportunity came up for me to make a swap. I swapped the truck even up for a 1:10 scale nitro powered top fuel dragster. The dragster is 31" long, it has a full aluminum chassis, billet front wheels, a 1.6 h.p. nitro motor, race carb, high compression "hemi" head, high flow air filter, oversized header, tuned pipe, a spooled rear end, 2 speed transmission, adjustable rear struts (no suspension to speak of), and an adjustable rear wing. Let me tell you...this thing FLIES!! the company that makes it claims 0-60 in 3 seconds. I can tell you this....it will cover a scale 1/4 mile (132 feet) in 2.45 seconds at 45 mph!!! providing you can get the rear tires to hook up and you can keep it straight. The rear slicks are made of foam, and you have to use traction compound (vht) to get it to hook up. Without traction compound, it just burns the tires through first and second gear, and it likes to kick the rearend sideways because of the spool. This one is fast, but you should see the pro guys do it....some of them will run the scale 1/4 mile at over 100 mph.

lol...no, the pipe has to aim towards the front, The exhaust actually comes out the side of it. They do make "drag" pipes, which are actually pipes made for r/c nitro boats. Boat pipes make a bunch of power, and they curl up and back, exiting in the center under the rear wing. A decent r/c boat pipe can set you back well over $100.00 because they are made of stainless steel and they are tuned to the size of the motor and the power band that you want. That's just crazy...$100.00 for a pipe to go on an r/c car.
yeah dean,,i had many cox gas powered cars when i was a kid. They were't fast but they were fun. I had a couple of the funny cars (tether cars) that you ran on a sting to go in a straight line. No throttle control or brakes on those things....lol

yeah, i've seen the 1/4 scale ones run..incredibly fast! I have no idea how they keep them going straight. If they do manage to get out of line, the guys can correct them pretty good. I'd probably over correct and hit the wall.
