Last night i started building the old revell anglia gasser kit (the one with opening doors and trunk). What a FUN kit this is...tons of tiny parts...lol. I got the injected olds engine finished last night (after 4 hours of work). painted, wired and plumed it looks totally cool. I added fuel lines to the injectors, but when the injectors are put onto the heads, the fuel lines are almost not visible. Next up , i'll get the chassis painted and together. It's been a long time since i've built one of these high-detail revell kits. one thing is for sure, this one will need different wheels and tires. It comes with centerline wheels (yuck..i hate them) and 2 peice tires front and rear. I don't like the look of the rear tires sticking out of the rear fenderwells, so i will probably narrow the rearend just enough to bring the edges of the slicks fluch with the edges of the rear fenders. The rear fenderwells will need to be radiused a bit to match up with the circumference of the slicks to make it look right.

Pretty cool Rob!!! Let's see some progress shots. I recently bought the original 60's Anglia with the cool 5 spoke wheels. I remember building it as a kid (tried to build!) Always wanted a second chance, now I got it.... ;D

I'm thinking of taking one of these bodies and as Rob mentioned earlier,... raising and oversizing the rear fenderwell radius. The idea would be to make a blown pro mod style pro streeter with the body slammed as low as possible. I think extreme modification (narrowing/shortening) of a modern pro stock frame/rear would be in order. Gotta love the way these monster engined pro mods are stuffed into tiny little crackerbox cars at the strip. I think the Anglia would make the perfect little atom bomb...luv 'em. Art ....here's kinda what I'm talking about...

Sounds like a great kit! ! ! ! I should have kept it! :-/hehehehe
I'm glad you are building it! It was found in an antique store for $6.50 . . .with a 20% discount that day. . . it was a great deal. . .and I knew Rob would do a killer job on it. . . so off it went!
Pictures please when you get a chance!

I think that one has a giant oversize steering wheel? right you are! the steering wheel is more like 1:20 scale...it's HUGE for this little car. Don't worry. i'll be putting a smaller steering wheel in it, and if all keeps going smoothly, i will have the front wheels steerable by turning the steering wheel.

I started the one that was metallic green molded plastic. It drove me crazy with the small parts! But when they are done, great looking little monsters!!

these are a fun kit to build... I modeled mine after a 1:1 60's drag car that raced here in the midwest... I drilled every button out of the doors and so on and replaced them with the tops from straight pins.. this thing weighs a ton! ha! Here's my "Wild Child" Anglia.. oh and yes .. the rear tires stuck way outside the wheels wells back in the day..lol... this is the only photo I have with me on my laptop...

here's the thing about the overall look of the anglia kit. the engine, body and chassis scream early - mid 60's gasser, but the wheels & tires scream 80's pro streeter. I know that tires hung out of the fenderwells like that back in the day...But i wanted the look of an early 60's gasser before there were monster slicks like that. the rear tires on mine still stick out of the fenders, just not as far as they would if they were the real wide ones that come with the kit.
