I started this AMT Showrod bash the same day Tim posted his contest idea, so I think it's a prime canidate for the April First 2010 "Fools with no Rules!" Extravaganza! I wanted something to practice 'woodgraining' on before trying anything on the "Cord of Wood" and a Li'lStogie seemed like a prefect choice, what with all the wood and all you know, but with sooo many "Li'l Stogies" out there, well, one more just wouldn't do. I also had a Royal Rail begging to get out of the box, but I couldn't get into the odd-ball crown design, but the crazy fat tired quadracyclething was too cool not to try something on ether. So, anyway, I thought, why not bash them? The way things laid out, there really wasn't room for a V-8, so I got to thinking about what would fit, that I had handy... An AMT Corvair kit I had stuffed away gave up a nice pancake 6, some parts from a dead Sandshark gave it some Showrod "Umff!" and so, it'll be packin' a Six Shooter! Front wheels are from a pair of Jesse James, not quite a dollar choppers from Wally world, but they look so perfect up front! Lots of paintin' to do along with some details and whatnot, but for the most part, what you see is what we'll get. Unless something crazy happens...

[ It's a secret entry. LOL but thats OK. Now I know what I'm up against. Where did it say "secret"? I've seen this mentioned more than once. I went back and re-re-read Tim's post and no place did I see 'keep them under wraps' or anything... Besides, I can't help myself, I'm a natural born show off! EDIT: Well I went back through and there it was, on page three, about mid way, sure enough, keep it secret. Crap, guess I'll just toss this in the trash and start over...

Awwww. Don't dump it! Just don't show anymore updated pics. You can always change something or add to it from what we've seen, so it'll be different from this. As Fred always says...."Get 'er Done"!!! ;D ;D ;D

Don't worry, but I guess a few that were willing to dumpster dive can be disappointed, it's going to be finished for sure and I've always got a trick or two up my sleeve...

Got some progress at last... Changed out the handle bars. I wanted something that looked like reins... Added some more frame and a set of much needed ladder bars... A motor mount... And a steering shaft... Modified the tail 'lantern' with a piece of clear red... That's all fernow folks! Till next time...

Added a nice set of brakes to the Stogie... From the peddle to the metal. Master cylinder, brake and shifter linkage, and a battery box. I may lay the carbs on their sides... Not quite sure yet. Close up of the brake and gas peddles, boot cut! Possible location for a fuel tank? Shifter, handle bars with grips, and peddles in place... Next up, "Wooden it be nice"?

Excellent detail, Mike! It makes look even more, umm... Realistic. And fun too. It's always a last to see unique stuff showing up on a showrod bash.
I vote for carbs up. Like the the location of the gas tank. Are the kegs on the side for haulin' shine?
I've always wondered how hard it would be to make the front wheels poseable on one of these.
This is sooooo cooool. Can't wait to see more.

The only thing I dont' like is the way the front wheels are too close together, I can't help thinking how bitchin' it would be if you hung a wide dropped axle from a Bad Medicine or something from the front section.... I know they were under pressure to not build "motorcycles" and trikes, and that's why those got the narrow front track, but they always look confused. Other than that, you are doing a heck of a job, and it's always great to see your progress stuff. I like the functionality of it all.
