I got this idea when I stuck an old Scout body on a drag kit I was building. The chassis is from a Miss Deal kit with the floor pan and wheel wells narrowed , the frame lengthened a bit and the engine mounts moved forward so the engine would fit under the hood. I didn't like the kits firewall, so I cut the cluster off and mounted it to the cage. I flipped the pedals and made them floor mounted, I made a gas pedal and fire extinguisher. The headers were donated by Dennis, the wheelie bars were donated by Chief . I wanted the body to look like a fiberglass shell so I filled in the taillights, sanded the handles ,wipers and lights off. the hood was glued shut and then cut to allow the engine to show through, the firewall is sheet plastic. I used glass from old drag kits because they had the "riveted Plexiglas" look. The paint is rattle can Testors custom lacquer orange metallic with a red fade . The decals were from Evilbay, I thought they fit the look- I would imagine it would be a brute to drive! Nothing fancy here, just a fun build. Sorry about the big pics, I don't know how to make them smaller.

Don. That is one mean scout! Did you do the other custom scout too?
This is a fun one you have to love a body that flips up on a build!

I saw the other build ,but it isn't mine .I started this one about a year ago, and only recently finished it. The hinges are from the Miss Deal, I added shims in the back so they would work right on the body .The body was in my junk box for about twenty years.

Neat! That kit brings back memories for me, we were on holiday vacation at a friends house and that was bought to keep me busy for an afternoon, but they didn't buy and glue so I built it using a tube of superglue they had. First real lesson on THAT stuff.... yuck and ouch!
Looks killer... somebody should build a real one.

Thanks for all the compliments ! I don't even know why I put the junk body on the drag car to begin with, but I liked the look of the raked front and it got me thinking. According to my "in progress" post, I started messing with the idea in January- and I finally finish it in December? I gotta get going faster on my builds
