** I put this on my mopar board, but figured you guys'd dig it, too.
I had a trip planned for Thursday/Friday to do shop tours through Greening Auto Company and Paul Atkins for work. As usual I decided to take my Plymouth, aka the Blue Goose.
The weather was calling for snow, so I packed a few extra things like my freezer suit and a hat and made the 3.5 hour trip to Birmingham, AL on Thursday evening to spend the night. I kept an eye on the weather channel, and when I awoke, I thought seriously of returning home and out running the forth coming snow storm.
That's not how I roll.. I joked about being a one man Donner Party and went the hour north to Cullman and spent the rest of the day driving around in the snow as others huddled in their houses. Fortunately the roads stayed clear until the very end of my trip and it took me two hours to travel the last 10 miles on 85 as temps dipped below freezing. Big fun.
Enjoy:
The morning started clear:
and I found this cool old rock quarry.. after taking the pics, I spent about 10 minutes doing doughnuts and drifting on the soft, smooth dirt. It was awesome.
I also checked out the abandoned truck scale:
Then the snow started while at Greenings:
Cows!
My view:
After nine miles of stop and go, stop and go, a mile from my exit, we stopped on the road for more than an hour as cars in front of us tried to make it up the icy hill. A pair of smart truckers stopped and waited until everyone in front of them was up and then drove slowly and steadily up with no problem. I love my Cobra CB!
