Well, I thought I could make an engine turned surface on bare metal foil, and I could. But lifting it up and applying it neatly to a tight area is a different thing. It was like trying to peel a sunburn and then sticking to a another spot. I think I'll have to go back and fix this one. That's 5 hours wasted. Hosted on FotkiThe magneto came out better. Hosted on FotkiNo mater what the level of completion, I am going to post on 4/1. Flounder

Hey Zoot,
I did use a new blade. (Bare metal 101). I think that the etching of the circles makes the foil extremely brittle. It also thins it a bit. It also seems that the raised ridges of the turned surface act like files to the blade and quickly dull it. All not good.
I did the back of the seat wall in Bare Metal Aluminum that was brushed out with some 800 grit. It came out pretty realistic and took only to 5 minutes compared to the three hours to turn a 2" X 3" sheet of bare metal chrome. It's also a bit thicker. I'll be headed to Pegasus for some more BMA hopefully today. Maybe a vendor will have some at the Citrus Nats.

Hizoot! You live near Montclair, CA? I used to go the Pegasus whe it was in Whittier. I used to spend $100 every Friday night there! I sure miss it!
