as I am working on my contest entries, I have a Groovy Grader engine that is larger than most others, and I only have ONE valve cover. I am positive that I have the other one SOMEWHERE, so I begin rooting through ALL of my boxes, parts bins, and zip lock baggies of stalled projects. After almost two hours of looking through stuff, and seeing if other valve covers would fit, I open the VERY LAST box that I haven't looked through. By now I have looked over every single thing I own that is model related. And in this Red Baron box of parts I finally find the missing finned valve cover. Triumphant, I return to the table and sit back down, only to discover that in the course of the last two hours of looking, I have now lost the freakin' engine!I can only shake my head.... I find it about 10 minutes later in a pile of engines that I was comparing valve covers with. The adventure continues....

Don't you hate that ? I remember a while ago I lost the glass for a kit. I looked high and low , all over my basement , even through boxes I know it wasn't in until I finally bought a gluebomb off Ebay to get another one . After I finished the build I find the original glass right in plain site in front of me, right where I left it. The mind is a crazy thing sometimes.

Been there, done that. Unfortunately, it's happening again right now. I set aside 4 items in one place, and they seem to have walked off by themselves...been a couple of months now, still can't find 'em. I HATE that!

Gremlins. My house and garage are infested with the vile little creatures. They sit just out of sight and watch you. They see what you're working on and when you look away for a second they take something you want or need and put it someplace else on you. I hate them.

I've found that by bending over on a regular basis, usually 10 reps or so while looking for what I've mis-placed, I keep the waistline in check. The problem is I've stopped looking for the missing bits....... ;D ;D ;D ;D

Now let us NOT forget that those shop Gremlins can do good deeds as well... ;D They are quite ingenious and can make cool parts suddenly appear in our parts box without us having any idea as to where it came from .. or when you are looking for just the right part to fit a kit bash and it suddenly appears out of nowhere ... oh yeah .. they're sneaky no doubt ... Legend has it that they run from house to house swapping parts from other modelers .. so if I see a cool part on one of your builds it may have came from my house ..lol..

My experience with gremlins is about 19-to-1 bad-to-good... However, the other night I did actually find my workbench top, so I can't deny that some good things happen ;D

My model railroding buddy was always losing parts to the gremlins, then one day we looked under the shrubs and found...

That's pretty funny, and I can relate. I will say though, it's probably time for you to buy some of those inexpensive bins with all the little drawers to sort your parts in! I got two of them for Fathers Day about 5 yrs. ago, best thing I ever did. You can store them away easily, but your parts are at your fingertips when you need them. One of mine has 6 large drawers on the bottom, which are great for bottles of paint or glue as well. Time to get organized!!!!

I have used those little nuts and bolts bins since I was a kid... Organization isn't the problem, it's open boxes with lots of stuff... LOL..
