Thanks for the great comments guys! I had a big long message typed out explaining the details, but much to my chagrin the page "timed out" and completely wiped it out I didn't know there was a time limit on CC responses? Anyway, it's late and I've got a nasty cold, so I'll jump on tomorrow and post it. This time I'll type it in Word and copy/ paste it Chuck, I wish I was that good at hand-lettering, but I'm a lot better at decals BTW, the reason for the DP can pic is in another thread we were discussing how tiny Zingers are, so I took that one to show their "petiteness". They're cute li'l things

Fantastic job , Tres !! I don't think ,y eyes could even see the lettering on the tires, let alone paint them. I like the dull steel look on the engines too, it makes it really stand out.

Thanks, I appreciate the comments!! OK, I'm feeling well enough to do some typing, so here's some details... The Super Semi has always had sentimental value to me. When I was a kid, whenever I went to visit one of my grandmothers she would take me to pick a model out and I would work on it on and off during the weekend visit. There were a few models I built that really stick out in my mind all these years later (for reasons I can't explain) and the Super Semi is one of them. This one is the Round 2 reissue and it's the first Zinger I've built since I was a kid, in fact the last one I built as a kid may have been the Semi. Anyway, paint is Tamiya Chrome Yellow over Tamiya white primer. Engine block is Boyd's True Blue. The chrome was stripped from all the motor parts. Blower was shot in Alclad Stainless Steel, exhaust is Testor's Burnt Metal, scoop, valve covers and pulleys are Alclad Chrome. I've had a couple of bottles of Alclad for years, but never tried them until now. After struggling to get decent results I jumped on here, did a search and found Chuck's great thread on Alclad techniques: coffincorner.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=wip&thread=11501&page=1His suggestion of Tamiya gloss black base coat worked great for me, and also from reading the thread I was clearly applying way too much Alclad. I was trying to "paint" it when really it takes barely a puff from the airbrush to get the best results. I redid some of the parts 3 times before finally finding Chuck's thread, next time hopefully I'll get it right the first time The wheels and grille are the stock plated parts with an ink wash applied. The distributor is a pre-wired version I bought in a batch off of eBay, 9 of them for 20 bucks (seller is Prestons1 if anyone is interested in them). The decals were run on my Alps and include the Mooneyes, the white letters on the tires, the chrome "GMC" logo (used chrome foil in the printer), the chrome bezel with white headlights and the blower belt graphic. I also did a neat pinstripe graphic to go on the front of the trailer, but it got folded over when I was applying it and was ruined. I may reprint it at some point. A couple of coats of Future were applied after the decals and she's done! Now I'm just trying to decide which of the others I want to build next, I think maybe the rail

Fantastic work all the way around. I really like the motors on these kits. Not a big fan of the small bodies.

Tres, That looks fantastic! I like the Mooneyes you did for it. That's the kind of build that makes you want to get a bunch and build 'em all! Great details on the engine and the wheels too. Looks like it's ready to crank up and haul! The DP can does give a great sense of how small they are.

Thank you all for the good words!
I've got the next one (Super Drag) all prepped and ready for paint. I'll post it in this same thread when it's done. I'm going to try and build as many as I can while I'm in "model mode" so I can post built examples on my site instead of just having box art. They're all going to be similar to this one- mostly box stock except for paint, decals & distributor wiring.

Thanks again guys, I appreciate it! I just wrapped up a Super Drag Zinger today, pics below. The top-down shot was an attempt to capture the metalflake, it's subtle and hard to photograph. Paint is HOK Black Diamond (the metalflake) over Tamiya Gloss Black with a couple of coats of Future over it all. I added the BMF "spear" on the front because there was a molded in trim line there that looked too much like a mold line, so I decided to add the BMF so it didn't look like I missed a seam I'll probably start on the Vette next although I've already worked up the decal artwork for the Little Red Zinger as well. That one is going to be a tribute to the real Little Red Wagon exhibition car.

Thanks again gents, I appreciate it! I'm nearly done with the Vette Zinger, it's been giving me fits but it's finally down to putting the last few parts in place. Should have pics up in the next day. I've got the decals run for the Little Red Zinger already, so I'll jump on that one next. Until then, here's an interesting tidbit. Many years ago Polar Lights used to have an active model forum. At one point PL was floating around some Zinger box art for comment. They never responded to questions as to whether they had bought the rights to make Zingers or whether they were going to reissue the old ones, they just showed around the box art and it all quietly went away after that. Wierd, huh? Wouldn't these make nice scratch-building projects

Here's the Vette Zinger, I'm glad to see this one done as I was getting tired of working on it As I mentioned in another thread, these Zinger kits are a challenge because the parts fit is awful. It takes a lot of trimming/ filing/ sanding to get things to fit right. It's not anything to do with the reissues, the original kits are the same way. The Vette is particularly tough. Anyway, as you can see I went with a little darker theme on this one. Paint is HOK Cobalt Blue over Orion Silver base coats with several coats of clear, color-sanded between coats. Motor & undercarriage are painted with various Testors buffable metalizers. Surprisingly, while the kit comes with an interior (unlike most of the Zingers) it did not come with window glass, so I added a rear window and windshield. There's a little interior detailing visible in the pics- the steering wheel is detailed, gauges & knobs are painted and a straight pin shifter is in there as well. Decals were created for the tire letters, blower belt logo, emblems, side marker lights and taillights. Here are some pics:
