I've got a thread on "Completed" that shows the Zingers I've been building lately. This is number 4 in the past month. This one is taking me a bit longer than the others, so I thought I'd post a progress shot of it: Paint is Tamiya white primer, HOK Orion Silver base (2 coats), HOK Apple Red Candy (3 coats), one coat of clear with rainbow flakes added and 4 or 5 more clear coats over that. Then it was hand polished, the decals were added and 2 more clearcoats went on over that. Whew! The paint has a lot of movement in it which doesn't photograph well. The decals are a nod to the Little Red Wagon drag car, it had at least three decoration schemes and this is loosely based on the below scheme: I'm not trying to copy the real thing as the model isn't even the right year, so this is more of a tribute. The decals were run on my Alps printer. The sponsor decals are spoofs, they are actually Deal's Wheels decals. I used them because I had the artwork already from doing all the DW decal repops, plus I felt like they matched the cartoony theme of the car well. All the other parts are painted and it's pretty much ready for final assembly, I should be putting it together this week and hopefully posting completed pics by the end of the week

Thank you guys! Well I figured I'd be halfway through assembly by now, but I kept looking at the above photo and the cross and sponsor decals were bugging me because of their lack of color. So I redid them, printed them out and just applied them again. I had already cleared over the old ones, so I just put these over the old ones and will clear them again. This picture was taken right after I put them on (a few minutes ago), so they're still wet not settled onto the surface yet.

Hey Tres,
The decals you made and put on tonight do make the Little Red Wagon pop more than the old decals. I can't wait to see it finished!

Thanks Keith! I really thought the decals would be so small that the colors wouldn't show up (the whole truck body is only 3-1/2"), so I took the easy path the first time. Oh well, 2nd times a charm, LOL! It took around two hours just to revise that artwork and make new print files, all just to replace something that was already done This is one of the reasons it takes me so long to build stuff, I make changes during the build when I don't like something. Just on these Zingers I've been doing recently I've stripped and repainted bodies and motors because I didn't like the colors. I always -think- I have it worked out, but when I see it it's often not what was in my mind's eye At least it keeps me off the streets

This is one of the reasons it takes me so long to build stuff... "So long?!" You're like greased lightning, Tres, compared to guys like me! At least it keeps me off the streets Oh, and sniffing paint fumes is better?! ;D Sorry, couldn't resist! We're all in that boat, I think.

Ward, yeah but these kits have like 20 parts, it's embarrassing when they take longer than a week Steve-o, thanks! Here's another progress shot, just finished up the motor assembly this evening. Blower is Alclad Stainless Steel, valve cover & pulleys are Alclad Chrome, scoop is painted the same as the body. The neat little prewired distributor is from a now-defunct company which is unfortunate because it's a nice one. The motor accounts for over half the kit parts, so it should be downhill from here, LOL!
