Ok... I just have to say this to get it out of my system...
My secret technique is ... (Shhhhh!) ... Are you ready?... I take the kit out of the box and paint the pieces and glue it all together.
I know... I know... it all seems just FAR to simple, but it really works! Now... given that simplicity... I just have to figure out WHY it takes me two years to get one done!

.... I've been pondering this "Why", for a long time now. I have this same thing going on, ..... I think I've "overcomplicated" my building tactics, -or- my approach to it, has become way too complex, -when maybe it's just simpler than I make it. -Anyway I have this problem, I know exactly what you're talking about ! It doesn't help either, that I've got way too many other interest's and things going on in my life ! I think perhaps ya have to kinda, .... uh .... defeat yourself .... and just make it happen .............. I'm not really sure. Mann,..... I have this same problem. -I've been hacking at it. I can sure relate !!
-my two pennies.

Ellis is 100% correct .. but I know what my problem is .. I have too many hobbies.. and not just modeling building suffers ... I do however build more in the winter but still having more than one hobby NOW is my biggest problem .. 35 years ago I couldn't afford to do the things to the extent I'm doing things now. This includes the type of kits I build and buy .. now factor in all the other things and the time each hobby takes makes building time in the summer really sparse ... I guess that's what happens when you're old(er) ... we try and "get in" as much time for everything before reaching the end of the road ..... ;D

I do subassembly, lots of prep, paint, sand fill sand prime shoot the color, and then bag it up in tiny parts bags and forget that I even had it underway. I struggle with the order of operations and means of simplifying things, and still have to do it over again. Any job worth doing is worth doing 4 or 5 times, I always say. I suppose that is part of the the challenge.

I have a lot of interests that I invest time in, models only being one of them; and being older too, trying to squeeze everything in; and the same with money 30-40 years ago, and now.

It's colder weather and that's when I usually start building, but other interests do get in the way. I just spent the afternoon taking parts off an old car I'm scrapping, plus putting the winter treads on the family minivan. I've done some tinkering with model cars since the hot weather went away, but not too much in earnest quite yet.

Yeah, colder weather! This summer just killed me, I just stopped doing anything! I'd get home from work and dive into some ice cold adult beverages! LOL!

Me three... something about the cooler weather and shorter days makes my brain roll for models. Can't do hardly anything in the warmer months... glad to see I'm not alone.

I build everyday . I think it every day. Do it , just glue it. Start an empty model box collection I Say!

when i think i can't add anymore detail, i find one more thing, then one more thing, then one more, until i just burn myself out and lose interest in a project.
