I finally found a few hours to pull the stuff out and work. I am stoked by the Kobweb Klassic entries and our forth-coming NNL in Georgia. There is a Commercial theme, and I've been banging my brain on this old truck I have... Muwhahahaha! So here's the stance and wheels hammered out. I used diecast wheels... the Creepy T wheels are big enough, but these look killer. A few doo-dads and some three color paint and it should be done in time. I gotta say, the cooler fall weather really gets my model brain rolling...

It's very old... by AMT. Mine was in a model box, but I've heard that some came with a little radio that went in the trailer. There is a speaker grille molded into the bottom. From what I understand, it was the first big rig model. The mention of the radio sparks a vague memory of seeing one of these in an ancient Model Car Science magazine about a zillion years ago. Simple kit, but it has a certain pizzazz. I'll be interested to see how yours turns out!

I was going to stuff a Groovy Grader mill behind the cab like a Zinger, but I like the lines. I think I'm going to go against my norm and leave it a slammer. (I also thought about cutting the cab loose and adding the 4-engined clip from the Ivo car between, but the thought of building another 4 nailheads and their individual headers/injectors in a week for the NNL deadline put a halt to that noise.)

I've seen that before and really dig it... I've always thought that would be a great model kit for somebody to produce.

When I saw the pics, I immediately thought about a Zinger setup with a big mill behind the cab. Another idea after I read the slammer post was convertible w/lower windshield frame. What ever you come up with it will be wild! Keep us posted.

I agree brandon...keep it simple because the truck and trailer have such great lines. it looks cool as it is, but maybe add some kind of subtle chrome exhaust to give a hint at what might be lurking under the hood (or in the trailer). Paint, detailing and the wheels will pull this thing all together, and actually, no one will probably even question if it has an engine(s) or not because they will be so focused on looks of the truck.

I have a set of exhaust stacks that were T-bucket headers, and some side cool mirrors from my Van Parts Pack, and some running lights.. I have the wheels all tucked flush with the sides, and it sits perfectly. I also used the big disc brakes from the diecast. I'll post a few more pics later today...

A little update... I have the interior done. I also added sheet styrene to the chassis to fill in the open-ness around the side tank area and the chassis to the front axle. I decided to go with a box-stock paint job, and have the first two colors done. I will tape off and spray the yellow on the trailer and the red on the lower cab when the others dry. This thing is way older than I, and came from a collection of a friend of mine's dads who had passed away and left him (not a model builder) all his stuff. I was called in to assess what was there so they could eBay most of it, and was given the opportunity to have a few kits. I chose this one, a '36 Ford coupe and a '27 Ford cop car. It's kinda cool to see this one built and I hope I do it justice. It was a goofy kit to begin with, but has some killer lines. It's been a fun project. Also have this on the one day burner.. LOL

I like it. How about breaking out some aluminum tubing and making a set of multiple exhaust stacks all angle-cut on the edges, line them up across the entire back of the cab. Polish them to match those hi-tech rims. That middle section of the lined off areas on the trailer could pic up with chrome silver, would follow the line of the rims and carry it all the way back. (side windows could even be "blacked-out" with silver foil-----very hi-tech) Keep the updates coming. Glad to see you building old friend....
